Being a Yemeni woman, a gorgeous one too but waiting to sing is not a very conventional path. It's certainly not the path of least resistance. The daughter of a beloved composer did her first singing in her school, then a radio executive asked her to do a radio show Tarab style songs. She did and then things started to come her way when she met contemporary composer Fayez Al Said.

Her voice might be the most colorful among so many stars, she feels authentic, and her emotions seem sincere. You really cannot bluff your way through the songs she chooses to perform  she has the artistic chops to bring complex musical experiences.

She is a refined soul who doe snot fake her personality, if she has something to add, she does it. If not she doesn't try to be something she is really not. Now she she is a beloved star in the Gulf region, she has set sight on Lebanon--where she shoots music videos and has few friends.

Her youth and lean figure do wonders, but her first asset is her voice and her temperament  In few short years, she has organically claimed her spot in the pop scene. I love the poetic songs she gets to perform  And she is engaged and soon to be married Nayef Hazazy to one of the Saudi Arabia' finest soccer stars. She does confess to rotting for the UAE soccer team though.

What's with Khaled Selim, the once beloved pop star and cars? I have no idea. Dudes and bros like sweet rides and talk about them like they would talk about gorgeous women. I have never been obsessed with cars, but I know many how do. So, Saudis who have been seeing a surge in death due to a number of racing accidents, are about to get a new racing show.

The show will air on MBC Action and I am seeing a Lebanese racer in an energy drink car ready to do some stunts. I think it's irresponsible to do these shows when last week few young Saudi died in a car racing accident. Driven is the name of the show and Khalid will help bring in new viewers to this new show. This show is on its third season now and more to come.

There has been many stars on this show before, and simply put you cannot stop young people form doing crazy stunts that might lead to their death.

Soccer fans are increasingly getting involved in politics. They are already mobilized, have a sophisticated communication system, used to fights with the police and opposing team fans. And now due to Port Said and other locations, their brethren and sisters have been murders giving them a unique cause.

This time, The White Knights, the fans of Egypt's under dog soccer team Al Zamalik are putting forth a new track for the revolution. They are asking their fans to join them in Tahrir Square to celebrate the revolution's second anniversary. The upcoming album has been dubbed the Voice of The Knights. The music video chronicles the leading up to the revolution, the day off and the fallout.

The songs saves its harshest criticism for the Mubarak regime, and his thugs, they have put us through hell and we have made it out is the theme. They even go back in time to the days of Abel Nasser.

The song seems to be made at more than one party and upset by many things, the army gets no love, and neither does the government. All they call for is the continuation of the Egyptian revolution until they reach the final station--freedom. The clip uses loads of stock images from the revolution and for those who have been slain. They music is kept to minimal, as the lyrics and the interviews create the dramatic affect needed.

Video: El-Ahly Soccer Club Mourns Its Massacred Fans

The sport ultras for Egypt's biggest sport club have not given up on finding justice. They have lost dozens of their fans in a soccer game, and they investigation have been slow and disappointing, but the Ultras has actually terrorized the club owners and those who like to pretend that the fans do not matter.

This time, they are joined by one of Egypt's hottest composers turned singer Mohamed Rahim.  He made a song just for those innocent victims, who had school to go to and universities to attend. The song is loaded with conflicted emotions, mostly sorrow and promise of a better place. 74 people are no longer alive because of some violent few.

We now have just memories of those life loving people who wanted a soccer game and ended up losing their most precious possessions--their lives. I wish more of us have that kind of loyalty to our friends like those soccer fans seem to have toward one another.

Vintage Cars Showcase In Palestine

For a historic place like Palestine, vintage and classic cars seem to be all too popular with those who can afford and those who have a long memory. In a public square in Ramallah, owners of such cars met and had dozens of onlookers who wanted to put their hands on classic cars.

I think the moment when the owners asking the government to protect them is laughable. We always want the government to solve our problems  It seems that the problem these owners have is the registration, as they think their cars do not drive on the road and this need to be exempted.

Iraqis are lead to believe that they only agree on very few things at this moment. Soccer is one of the things that brings the country together, and the national team seems to be doing very well in the Asia and Arab Cups and beyond. I celebrate the winning of the Iraqi team, and wish them the best.

They have to deal with harsh political reality and grim situation on the ground, yet the players do their best to bring some joy into the Iraqi life. So, one of the Iraqi most original voices is Hatem El Iraqi, whose name is as good as gold. See the images that accompany this rushed song music video landing in time as the Iraqi team revives its old glory. The song just landed and it has already traveled the world and back, Iraqis always love their motherland.

Shatta Hassou has done sport songs in the past, this one is new and this one puts her in a new light. she is willing to learn form those who came before her, like the icon she shares the Microphone with.

He teams up with someone who brings cool into the equation  Shatha Hassoun and together the perform a song for the Iraqi soccer team built on pride. I give my respect to the team, they have been one heck of a ride to watch. As for the song, it's a good song made for Iraqis, it does give some of them goose bumps. The melody is simple are so are the lyrics. I love the pat where it say will not not be left out.

Examples Of Shameful Things Arab Celebrities Do

1. They like to use English and French words in their interviews--you like in Arabic speaking country, you are speaking to Arabic speaking folks, drop the act please.
2. They go to record a duet with non-Arab stars that no one has ever heard of and then come and tell us you are huge outside that country. First, with all due respect  nobody cares you have done a song with a Romanian, Filipino or some random rapper. Flukes do not often make a solid career. 
3. They do not spend real money on their songs, but when it comes to the music video they pay up top dollar for that. If  your song sucks, ain't nothing going to compensate for that--not even a music video shot in London.   
4. Filmmakers, hire unassuming tourists on the streets in places like Egypt an ask them to be in their movies. If you do not take your movie seriously, why should I?
5. They record, mix, edit their music and movies in a foreign country, when top-notch studios and editing rooms are just as good next door. This does nothing and shows we still suffer from the complex where we prefer foreign talents to equally capable ones. 
6. Wearing clothes with big gigantic global brands on them, some of them are even embarrassing or say idiotic things. I have yet to see someone wearing a cool outfit with Arabic brand of calligraphy on it.  
7. They want to become stars outside their native countries. Not a bad idea, just make sure the art you make represents your country and you will be going overseas. You can make it out there by being you, singing in English is embarrassing do not try. 
8. They have to brag about their awesome phones, nice shoes, fancy car and gadgets. Sure, not a bad thing, but keep on mind your fans do not like you because of these things. If they do not like you, you cannot buy these things no more. 
9. They gave birth to their kids in foreign countries and give them random names. How can I believe your songs' about how much you love the motherland if you do not raise your children in it?
10. They celebrate having a husband who is not from the same place. Like that singer who married a girl from the UK or that Egyptian soccer player who is dating a German lady. The second plays in the  national soccer team. Or that famous Lebanese singer who is singing about being an Arab knight when his own daughter boasts about being a Canadian. It's cool they like diversity, but just because you are diverse it doe snot make you superior.

They even have got a soccer captain to appear on their song. This is a random song made by few friends and people who are in love with their virtual life.

I do not really want to log out, it's really hard to escape the curse of Facebook, people are giving away too much information and no one knows who is taking a peak--check your privacy policy if you can make sense out of it, enjoy the songs and the band English that comes with this song.

Among the hundreds who have been killed in Egypt, about a hundred stand above the rest--the 100 or so soccer fans who were murdered in a soccer game. Why? Their brethren in the ultras and sport fans are not letting ho--those people go to war in order to bring justice to those. They have listed them, they have made music for them, they have protested and have done much to bring an attention to those fallen.

So, here; now we get an album, with an cover art that has each of those fans names....and the their names are part of the song. Afterall, those murdered fans are rooting for the biggest soccer club in Egypt and in the Arab World.  

The album with 19 different tracks talking about those fallen, their stories and the way they have lived their lives. Yes, the club is also out there, but more clear than everything else, are the names of the fallen. Most songs on the album are in Arabic, but at least two have English titles. The pictures of those fallen in port said are also there. The army took the blame for that one, but justice has not been served. I like the way the soccer fans do it, they are being civil about it. Keeping the issue alive without alienating people.

Video: "Stronger" Barcelona Team Switches Songs

The Spanish newspapers are reporting about anew song that will play ahead of the Barcelona games,  the new team coach Tito Vilanova chose a different song than the former coach Pep Guardiola. Those songs are supposed to gets players energized about the game and feel lie wining again.

I do not know what you guys out there feel about those two songs, but I feel Kelly Clarkson would be a change for the team with her upbeat song about being literary stronger. One British band and another who is an American shot to fame on American Idol a decade ago. Maybe this way, more women can enjoy the game too.

Footballer Lionel Messi Arrested While In The Saudi Kingdom

The Saudi Kingdom has invited the world class soccer player and legendary ball player Messi . There were so many dudes wanting to see and touch the legend that he had to be arrested by two or four Saudi policemen to walk him away form the crazed men of Saudi Arabia--who happen to love soccer.

The scene was so chaotic that the sponsoring network reporter was kicked out of the scene  and nothing went according to plan. The super star Messi joined his country men soccer team as they play against the national Saudi soccer team on Wednesday. Messi did nothing wrong to earn him that kind of harsh police treatment, that wanted to keep him safe while groping him.

The poor Saudi anchor who wanted to speak to the soccer legend. But that was not the time nor the place for civility. And by the way, they have a gun to Messi's head--all to keep him safe form his fans. I wonder what his enemies would do? The international press took this picture and the chaos and ran with it, the only losers here are the Saudi name.

It seems the security officers on the airport site, were letting in their relatives and friends to get to the airport in the hopes they would see the legend of Messi. But this is wrong as Saudi Arabia has turned itself into worshiping idols of soccer. I know the Saudi pres were the first to speak ill of this fiasco caused by lack of organization and zealot soccer fans.

You can see form the video below, this was amateur hour in Saudi Arabia and everybody pushed everybody around the airport gate. This i a shame to the Kingdom, they could have done a better job managing the event. This does not reflect too well on Saudi Arabia, its people and its culture.

Shikabala In Trouble For Tamer Hosny Concert

Egypt's finest soccer player and  bad boy Shikabala finds himself once again in trouble with his club. The golden feet champ of Egyptian soccer who is in the United Arab Emirates now playing for premier league Al Wasil Club stopped by a Tamer Hosny concert in Abu Dhabi and emerged on the stage alongside the Egyptian pop star. The fans shouted the soccer players name and cheered him one.

It was a good moment for the soccer player who has seen some many controversies throughout his career including outbursts at his coaches and managers. Trouble is this, 48 hours after Shikabala had made his concert cameo, his team lost the game really bad 5 to nothing--zilch. Al Ain club dominated Al Wasil and angered so many fans.

Needless to say the club bosses are unhappy and they have reported Shikabala for investigation according to the head of the club Hamid Yousef. The club will use its regulations do rule on the matter. I do think this is a crappy call as the club is finding someone to hang for their losses. Shikabala is just one player, it takes a lot more than that to lose a game this bad.

Mohamed Rahim has a heart of gold and this gold he transmits through his music. This time he has released one of his singles where he comments on the fallen, namely the ones who have been murdered during that soccer game in Port Said. This remains an issue unresolved where the murders and those who have incited the violence remain free.

Mohamed Rahim pays farewell to the 70 or so young souls that went to a soccer game, where it ended up being a war zone and an assassination. Frankly, Rahim sounds like he has lost someone he likes, you can feel it when he sings the lines of his songs. He is also calling for unity and religious tolerance. It ain't easy to do those kind of songs, but I feel Egypt can use something like this to remind them of their  collective high moments.

I know Rahim can also do happy and party songs, but most of his memorable songs are the ones he writes from personal experiences. He now has crafted an emotional crowded song

Maya Diab, Energy Drinks And Car Drifting @ The Dead Sea

Not sure how much Maya Diab knows about cars and racing, but she just made an appearance in a Jordanian car rally near the Dead Sea. Maya was the celebrity all the boys wanted, they wanted fast cars, a strong female celebrity and a lot of energy drinks. Maya brought her high sense of outlandish fashion to the event and mingled with the folks who like to think of themselves as being sporty.

I am sure that energy drink hired her to come to Jordan for PR. Maya has turned her short living career into a business enterprise for product endorsement  To her credit, she cannot help that stupid guys are crazy about her and about all her fashion and otherwise stunts. Chevy had the time for their life as their car stole the show. I can say this, while I do not care about people putting their lives in danger for no real value, I would still feel bad for them in the event they die.

Stupid young people and their unlimited love for all things fast, I do not get the crazy over that energy drink, I do not see a need for it. On the upside, Jordanians may be out of work, but they would never doing things like car racing and obsessing over celebrities. Jordan is a great place, but socially, you find girls who want to be boys and boys who speak and act like girls.

Mr. Egypt Ibrahim Abdel Gawad Weds

Mr. Egypt has finally found his match. He has tied the knot to a nice lady who works as a TV anchor. His wedding was kept away from the spotlight. The couple were surrounded by family and friends. Not much has been published about the wedding or the bride so far.

Ibrahim Abdel Gawad won the coveted title of Mr. Egypt in the 2006 competition. Then he went on to work as a TV anchor, his good looks were his ticket. He has also appeared as a model in a number of music videos. But Ibrahim did not get mainstream respect until he spoke on a live show about the massacres at home in Egypt. He was so compassionate and so real.

In the aftermath of the Port Said massacre where tens of soccer fans were murdered as they were watching a soccer game. Ibrahim spoke from the heart and his video went viral, it was a sermons that touched so many hearts. He spoke about the Mubarak regime and all its men who now pose as revolutionaries even they have made million of dollars out of that regime.

Barcelona is the world's biggest soccer team, and it happened to be that the Arab fan base is among their most fierce fans. The company knows that and often flirts with their Arab and Muslim fans around the glob. I do not care for team sports, but I know most do. So when the Barcelona team invites or allows a former political prisoner who wore a military uniform and fought in a largely civilian area, they knew they are not to a good start.

Most Arabs hated that, but their love for the team seemed much larger than their love for Palestine or politics. Real Madrid fans tried to take advantage of this Gilad Shalit debacle and launched a campaign to shame the popular team. Sure, some people were upset, but at the end of the day, they will forget that and came back in line for their favorite soccer team.

But if you have doubts on your mind on my point, listen to this song from Hussine Al Jassmiy, one of the Gulf's biggest names, and recognized and beloved singer throughout Arabia. He released a song for his team, just a day or two ago. This is a song that will go viral from a man who knows what he does and here he tells us about his love who is a big fan of the Barcelona team. He is a big fan of Real Madrid the song goes, but he won't hold that against her. As he will love whatever she loves.

The song is a peace offering song between the two arch rivals.

Stupid Of Passionate? Soccer Fans In the Gulf New Gear

For about a 140 US dollars you can wear your teams' pride in the United Arab Emirates. But you won't by just getting a shirt, you are getting the local traditional dress "Kandoorah", "Dishdasha", "Jalabya" You know that tall spotless dress men like to wear in the Gulf. The traditional white dress now has a twist, for soccer fans. you can wear any soccer color you want.

Most fans should be happy, but purists are condemning the dress and asking their government to interfere to protect their tradition. A local designer headed the marketing and the design  he is busy shipping orders now. For the little ones too, they can get their dresses for about 70 bucks too.

A sport show broke the news and in an instant, orders flew in. The desingers havey not produced any local teams Kandoorah as of yet. But they have made the ones you see in the pictures for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Critics took to Twitter and Facebook to lampoon the product as purist are offended by this assault on what they call tradition. Supposedly  this is not the first time this dress gets introduced, Saudi Arabia fought this twisted mushing of local heritage and international sports.
