Video: Good Looking Make Romance Worthwhile

He is Ahmed Ezz, the most handsome and tallest Arab actor. She is Donya Samir Ghannem, she is an Egyptian beauty and fashionista. They made a move last year and it was supposed to be the ultimate love story where good looking people take a swing at love. And in those movies, the good looking ones seem to have a limitless supply of cash to afford them the upscale life.

To make the movie a better experience, the voice of Wael Jassar wrapped it the movie and its promotional song. Too bad the movie tanked so bad--it was not a bad movie it was just released when we were talking about the Arab Spring.

I love Wael and his style, he is an adult in the room when you need one. He sounds like he is giving you his heart on a platter each time he sings. He is a true believer and a dreamer who caters romance. At this point, I think Wael should abandon his warm style for a minute and do a fun song. He is great at what he does, but diversification is always a great idea...in this volatile world we live in

Watch: Cute Guys Like To Cry The Nader El Attat Edition

She left him and now he just wants to die--romantic? perhaps But for Nader El Attat. He is a Lebanese voice trying to chase the attention of women who like music and good looking boys like himself. His breakout song has been composed by Assi Hellani, the Lebanese super star.

Assi seems one of his mentors. and Nader loved Assi Back. The music video is nothing new, but for the nude bathtub scene. Love story and then sourgrapes phase. The music video is about the different things couples want from a relationship--one wants a family and a baby. The other did not have that on mind.

WATCH: The Drunk Arab Diva Leaked Video Scandal فضيحة نوال الزغبي سكرانه في الفندق

Not a proud moment for me, but this beloved songstress of mine had a leaked video out where some dudes are talking to her and she seems to be out of her element. Watch for yourself. She does have a lot of enemies including a loser for a former husband.

Whoever leaked this video better explain himself/herself. This seems to have been filmed in a hotel where the diva had her guard down, or she might be trying to make it to her room when those guys stopped her and took their shoot. She is a mother and she had a legal battle with her husband over the custody of the children.

It seems that she knows at least one person in this group, and while we have no date on this video, it might have been leaked by her deranged husband. To her credit  she sings so well even with having had too much to drink.

Egypt's Jon Stewart Is No Hero

My latest post for the Huffington Post

Bassem Youssef, the famous host of an Egyptian satire news show, is being sued. Bassem is no hero of mine, and there are countless others who share my view. Facebook is riddled with pages and groups who declare their lack of affection for Bassem Youssef. The former heart surgeon has been gaining fans and building an audience throughout the Arab world with his jokes and zingers. At the get-go, I loved his jokes and delivery. I thought he was the missing breeze of comedy the Arab world has been missing.

WATCH: Carole Samah "Ehsas" Official Music Video كليب كارول سماحة - احساس | جديد 2013

With her gigantic googly eyes, Lebanese super diva is judging you. The scene starts with a guy who is a cheater--note the difference between a cheater and a player. Filmed in Paris, telling a romantic story about those who are in love but the other person is not being upfront about his past. This music video is about breakups and heartache. But aside form that, I do not think Thierry Vergnes added much to the music video. It feels average.

This is a romantic story when it took a wrong turn. When you cheat, do not comeback for a do-over, Carole won't let you easily off the hook. Some people move on and others get stuck in the past, with nothing good going their way emotionally. The song came on her album released on March 13 with 13 tracks, this was the number one hit song and it did deliver the heat. Its composer's name does not sound Arab, he might be Turkish.

This is the curtain call when you want to turn the page once you have had your closure. Salime Assaf wrote the lyrics and showed once again he is the most sensitive lyricist who has show he really get women. The song is not about roses and sunshine, but dark moments. I like some of the affects the director have used.  There are so many tears.

According to this site, the clip was removed by Rotana several minutes after its release. This might be a publicity stunt to get more media stories. According thing according to this Tweeter guy, comes the following image:

Listen: جديد - أمل حجازي - فين الضمير -Amal Hijazi Human Song

Lebanese pop songstress is out with a new song about doing the right thing, about the human conscious! Why do we not care anymore? Where is our heart? Why so much injustice? This is would be an easy song to write if you have been following the fallout of the Arab Spring.

Amal Hijazi is a unique voice, and a gentle soul, she is singing in Egyptian and this seems like a song that she wanted to sing, not your average I am in love and silly tracks. The message is bigger than one person. Unlike her peers, Amal is not great at promoting herself, she is not the biggest self-promoter but she is person with a good moral character. And she found the song that she felt.

Carole Samah Upcoming Music Video كارول سماحة إحساس

Carole Samahe flew to Paris to shot her music video--to be released soon. Ehasas is that song and it's that tile song for Carole Samaha's most recent album. She teams once again with her favorite director--also French where they have shot a dozen music videos together.

The music video seems to be telling a story of a woman with an emotional void when she has dumped her former lover. The song create a sorrow filled mood, and I hope the music video captures such emotions. To her credit not only is Carole a great songstress, she is a gifted actress as well.

It looks simplistic--like most of her music video--she is the star and the song is right there in the center. Nothing too flashy, just the right elements. Watch behind the scenes from the filming of the upcoming music video, the cast and the set. Something about Paris that makes Carole race to to film yet another music video in that city.

This Video Just Made Me Cry--With Tears And Everything

Ayman is the Palestinian political prisoner who refused food for 260 days, and finally the Israelis agreed to send him on exile to Gaza, away form his home in Hebron. He has been in Gaza for three days and his family had to walk through hell to get to the hell called Gaza.

See the moment he got to see his mother and see the real emotions caught on camera. Keep on mind, this is Mother's day, and this mother has not seen her song for a long time--he served 10 years in jail where he was sentenced to thirty.

The mother could not hold back, after all this hero to so many Palestinian is the one she gave birth to and fed. He is her little son is grateful to her and there is so much love. This video will touch your soul and send your eyes to tears. Mother, we love them, and they love us unconditionally.

Reviewing The Greatest Arabic Pop Album In البوم كارول سماحة - احساس 2013

01 - Ehssas, the most sophisticated and grown up track on the entire album. A bittersweet song from Carole who knows how to make those song best. I love the low key energy and the music takes you up and down in a beautiful race.

02 - El Afrah, one of the happier songs and naturally you go to the Egyptian dialect for those. This song has legs, it will stick around and be played at each of our parties and happy occasions. This is new territory for Carole, she will be happy she chose this song and added it to her album--such songs have a longer shelf life.

03 - Hakhounak, the most jaded song one person can hear. Carole actually wrote the lyrics. Smart and strong women do not like to be cheated or wronged. She is avenging that with this song, I will betray you.  They very words that can kill a man and send him to his destruction. A hurricane of emotions where Carole is very comfortable at being conflicted

04 - Inta Tofl Kbir, written and composed by Marwan Khoury, I do not think this is his best work. But the song itself is refreshing. Too man men out there, live life as if they are big boys. It's time for Carole to expose them and take them to task. It's slow dance song that changes pace and has a Spanish influence.

05 - Ohdonni, The very sweet song performed like a girl in love for the first time would have written it. A dreamy song that guys like to imagine their epic love to be like. I love this side of Carole, the dreamy side of her sounds very original  the lyrics are a delight. A nice break from the darker songs. Huge me or embrace me is the tittle her, and this alone tells me, the song is about someone's need to feel warm.

06 - Ana Geet, pop is not dead as long Carole gives it her time. This is a cute song with a catchy beat meant for the younger fans who like clubbing. Love means to compromise just to be close to the one you love. Looking forward helps, and the song calls for just that. This is a winner track.

07 - Wahshani Belady, the Arab Spring broke far too many homes, and drove so many away from the motherland. And those who have been away are thinking now to come back home. Coming home songs are a dime a dozen, but good ones with a sweet dance beat are hard to come by. Carole has the right song and I am in love, about loving the homeland, the people form there and wanting to take a walk down memory lane. The music fusion is exicting and is done right,One of the top songs on this album and an instant classic.

08 - Yaoumayn Shahrayn, the sweet dose has another offering, Carole channels her most delicate soul and dives deep down to bring the most sincere love potion out of her lyrics. A Lebanese style all the way, the sweet, unconditionally loving despite the distance. I love how the music flows and allows listener to close his/her eyes and think of whatever brings such memories to life.

09 - Mosh Maakoul, Dick Dale would be very happy to see someone from Lebanon is this sophisticated to incorporated his own surge guitar music. By the way Dick is Lebanese. The song also takes the Spanish flamenco flavor with lyrics about life and living life to the fullest. This might be a call for women to do more with their lives as life can be a very sweet thing as we travel through it.

10 - Mosh Tayaak, The spunky song has arrived and it is the perfect tongue in cheek moment. I love this song, about how crazy and stupid can love make us. I love this song and I would ask fore more please  the lyrics are accessibly, fun and will make all girls happy to be ones. I like the positive humor and crazy feel Carole brings in this song. The song goes, I cannot stand you, I do not love you, because I am crazy about you...preach one!

11 - Khedni Maak, a cover of one of the most celebrated Lebanese diva, the late Salwa Qattrib. It's hard to live in the shadows of such legends, I feel the song could have been done better. But the song introduced a whole new generation  to an older yet better songs. The cover game is tricky, and I feel Carole has a lot more to offer that what I am hearing in this cover. Carole did not get through to me here.

12 - Wou Taawadet, this song came out last year and made waves by rocking the slow music scene  I like this complexity of love--love can be a very dark and risky thing. This is a breakup song form the first rate. This track offers peace to those living with a broken heart. Pick yourself up, and march on. Carole ruled out in this song not to mentioned the amazing music that accompanies such mighty lyrics.

13 - Ma Bnethammelsh Baad, A song that plays like a conversation between two people who loved one another, but cannot stand the differences. Breaking up is possible, but the song gives a glimpse of hope. It ain't over yet. A mellow song going for sad. A sobering track that brings a balance, love is not all parties it's fare more complex and the naive should keep away.

Elissa, Wael, Hussein and Carole Drama On X Factor

The sixth episode of X Factor Arabia comes the full circle, each of the four judges has assembled his crew and picked the talent pool he or she will be working with and not they will lock them in a closed boot camp for coaching, training and preparation phase to the face-off stage.

Elissa (ladies), Carole (bands), Hussein (older than 25) And Wael (dudes) have already met with their teams and started the program. This is where the drama kicks in and people get fired as each of the judges has to pick just six of his team and bring them to perform  I love how the drama gets people interested  And see how the young talents fight each others on the song choice.

The next stage in the boot camp is the visit to the judges home. There are so many characters on the show and this is is good for the rating--like the chef assistant from Morocco who has such a great voice with an odd flavor. Note how that soda company has vending machines all over the set. Also keep on mind, how the talents on the show try to do cover of songs by the artist judging their act.

Wael will take his team to Beirut, Carole will take hers to Cairo, Elissa is flying them to Istanbul and Hussein is going with his team to Dubai.

Review: Tamer Hosny 2013 Album "Bahbak Enta"

You really have to listen to each of the songs in entirety because some songs change gears and keep you guessing what will happen next.

01. Bahbak Enta, simple techno music intro to keep things upbeat till this singing bird takes on the microphone to confess his love. I love how the song sounds like a plea right before it kicks off the party and shed a whole new Tamer mood.
02. Ya Ba5t Elly Hat7beh, this song was released in advance to hype up the album and it did the trick. A Romantic gem sing with a catchy Egyptian beat, a new song for Tamer who has done similar songs before. The topic might attract younger college aged listeners  not so much the family folks. A gleeful song with shades of romance.
03. Elly Rah, this is a winner song, we have never seen this wise Tamer Hosny talent before. He sounds grownup and sick of living with people who live do not give back. I am a fan and think Tamer landed a smashing hit, his emotions come through in genuine fashion.
04. Had Shabhoh, a sad about what could have been? a ballad that exists in each and every culture and tongue. Could we be reunited again? A song about the similar faces, and names we see in other people. The Deja Vu feeling we get when we see someone and think we have known them from a past life. A sweet song
05. Magnon Ana, Again, I love the intro, I could be hearing this song in some Latin area, or an area where street music is king. I appreciate how this song is made, it's fashioned in the American style of keeping things interesting and singing without singing. Lyrics are not that fresh, but as the song is catchy, you won't notice.
06. T3ala N3esh, Let's love is the title! I have heard this song from Tamer before. The sweet and gentle soul guy is back. I do not like those songs, but the targeted audience is not me. I do fine the music delightful and sophisticated
07. W Mn Ba3dy Eltofan, a happy song from a man who sounds if he lives without a care in the world. A balanced approach to dance and pop. I love the title, we care only for number one. I do not care how it all plays after me--do not care if the flood stroke. About being selfish in a relationship. The music is made right with incredible production.
08. Saf7a Gdeda, A new page is the title! Start over, and hope people won't call you out. The song starts slow, then it takes us into the inside of crazy club with the mix. A fun song for the live concerts, but Tamer slows it when he sings, then the song chances pace few times. I like 80 percent of the music, but loud is the norm.
09. 5alena E5wat, a song you play in dark night, when you are about to do something more private in an intimate setting. Here' comes the boom, the song is about "Lets' Be Friends Instead!" Who hasn't heard this before? I am not sure what to make of the song by a guy talking about another guy--he might be singing in the voice of a lady. Again, I have enjoyed this song and loved the story it tells and the simple lyrics if puts to good use.
10. Habet Etnen, the love triangle song, I do not like the logic, but life is illogical sometimes. The song has never heard before lyrics. A dilemma when you fall in love with two people at the same time. This is like taking a journey inside the mysterious minds of many people in relationship. I love how Tamer talks about pride and self-respect here. I like the distinct Egyptian melody, and something tell ms the fans would welcome them too. Could it be possible I have met the right person at the wrong time?
11. Ya Ret Terdy, a classical start, love the guitar strokes. A dreamy song from a guy who wants to forget the past and start a new page. A gentle song by a very emotional version of the artist with a great melody that comes painted in sorrow. This is a smooth track But will they forgive?
12. 3orba, Tamer Hosny has traveled the world and with that comes the feeling of being away, missing on somethings. This is the homesickness song that most of his fans who live abroad will find it amazing. He traveled and performed for them--came to the US, went to Europe and Dubai. He is apologetic for those who live away. Naturally, I like this song and I welcome Tamer Hosny in the expats club.
13. Ya Retoh Yestahel, save best for last, the song sounds like a video game, then Tamer Hosny walks in a parade with a guest--I now know it's her friend and guy with the Free Music lable Baha Soltan. Tamer has never big on duets, this is a good surprise. This is not a love song, a song about learning a lesson and marching forward.

Iraqi Mohamed Al Fares Delivers Sorrow And Heartache

You Like The One That Hurts You...goes the new song by Iraqi singer Mohamed Al Fares. Dozens and dozens of Iraqi singers keep releasing songs some talk romance, others mention the motherland, they all through talk about love and hurt.

Mohamed sounds like a broken bird--a bird that can fly no more. And now comes his song after he has consumed all options to come to terms with the past. I respect a man who makes music without dozens of dancing ladies and blondes. Mohamed stands out with his sorrow filled tone, heartbreaking melodies and soul reckoning perforanc.

WATCH: The Arabic X Factor Airs الحلقة الأولى كاملة - تجارب الأداء

Pepis is dancing as the latest singing competition show airs in Arabia, the X Factor brings together four of the true biggest pop stars in Arabia are set to judge the show. Three Lebanese and one guy from the United Arab Emirates. Egypt is missing, but at least three of those singers are a huge draw in Egypt.

The first episode aired with an introductory tone by talking up the stars who will judge the upcoming singers. It's an education too. 25 thousand young voices from all over the Arab world wanted to join in, only few will make the cut. The good news, the winner will get a contract for a music label  and will be touring around as the Pepsi star. That means good voice won't cut it, you need to have that personality and sexy attraction to be the worthy winner.

We are months away from that time, but the four stars will make sure we are entertained. I hope this show does not turn them from greats to goats. You have to be in the age range of 16 to 80 years old. Four different groups based on age and gender. Not sure how different this will be from the Voice, it sounds similar to me. Note how the voice over is in Egyptian.

I will follow it when I sense there is a reason to do so. I give it to the production company for singing the four best and most relevant voices in today's pop scene. I love the exchanges between the judges, Hussein Al Jassmi, Elissa, Carol Samahe, and Wael Kfoury are making sure we are tuning in.

With "Al-Mohareb", Mc Dahab Delivers The Most Accurate Warrior Song

If war games ever needed a theme, song then those game designers have finally found the just the perfect song  for their game. Egypt's most prolific rapper delivered a very personal song, he has told me that he won't record the song until he feels inspired to channel to complex emotions the song is all about. The song starts in a romantic set up and happy music, till the thunder strikes.

Well, that time has finally come and Mc Dahab recorded this epic war song about a guy who has fought but fighting is not in his nature. A song about a warrior who fought for God and country, yet finds the safest place when he is close to his mother and she talks to him about standing for what's right. She asks him not to go forward with his plans, but he must go...and not even a letter form his sweetheart would slow him down. The homeland came knocking and he would answer to call of duty.

Mc Dahab describes the battle so beautifully like I am watching an ward winning war movie, he buries other warriors like he is on cruise control. Then comes the news to his family, your son was killed fighting for his country, this is an honorable death, they said. They brought back the coffin, and the flag, there were no dry eye in the house.

I know the song is a little dark, but those are very dark times for many Arabs and the rapper has captured such mood with his creative and fresh take on war, honor and love. I was moved and inspired as I listened to this song for the third time. The artist is a naturals lover, but he cannot say not to what will be the end of him, his poetic lyrics make sense of the things we say and the things we do not say in such circumstances.

Download: Magdy Saad 2013 Album البوم مجدى سعد - من يوم ما غاب

Magdy Saad is not trying to be something he is not, he just wants to do one thing thatr he is very good at, making music. This explains the release of his new album with an incredible 16 tracks. This is hardly the best time for such release, but for two years and there has not been an ideal time for an album release.

One one thing, Magdy's style is so dark, and those times allow for that. His new album is sort of like the last thing you hear before you shot yourself out of sorrow. There's a demand for those songs, the people who buy those CDs are the poor kids in Egypt who cannot get married but fall in love, when the love bails out on them, they play Magdy's new album and find some peace. This is not a market driven album, there's no sweet cut for anyone, just a guy who like to channel his emotions on record.

Why? It makes them think, I am not the only one! It must get better

This is hardly the best time for such release, but for two years and there has not been an ideal time for an album release. This is a huge risk that may come with big rewards...

Why? It makes them think, I am not the only one! It must get better. Saad is eschewing previous dips into blues, and pop and heartache-oriented sound; in that vein, he's been logging studio time with his friends to turn out this album. The hard work at recording the follow-up album is clear, with that comes a dash of hope to thrive' The album, titled , already has a first single going viral online.

There are happy songs too, but Magdy might have locked himself into one note performer  Another feedback, the music is pretty sophomoric, it 's very simple and lacks proper layering. I believe "Hikayat" is the boldest and most fresh song from Mr. Saad, he should find more gems like this one.

Listen: #Egypt Ahmed Ezzat Romantic Single احمد عزت بحبك كل ثانية

For a guy who was a runner up on the Star Academy program, Ahmed Ezzat came a long way. He did not have his moment under the sun. The time he spent on the show was not the perfect time for Egypt and the rest of Arabia, but the young gentleman has made the most of it...

He kept releasing singles, in a year since he left the show, we have seen him sing four times, and three of those times, he was lucky with his choices. This Valentine day he has anew single for the ladies who  have come to adore him and his look. This new single feels special because the singer is the same creative force behind the lyrics and the music the song comes with. This is an original  I like that more and more Arab singer are doing more than performing their songs.

This time, he is confessing that he loves her every second. It's a bit dramatic song, it might be a song for a movie, when we know the backs troy, but as of right now as a guy, I am not feeling the song. But I think there are those who would be satisfied with his choice here.

The Postmortem Duet By Latifa And Late Amer Moneeb عامر منيب ولطيفة جيت علي بالي

She is a fine Tunisian and pan Arab songstress and he is one of the kindest Egyptian pop stars who is now dead. He passed away about two years ago, and it was too sudden. The late Amer Moneeb has a new duet released, and Latifa is the second act of this duet.

This was never released before and came out of sudden, catching Arabic music observers by surprise--just like the death of the other star behind this sweet romantic and cute love song. This song is a remake of an old song, it's a welcome remake because both artists sound loyal to the original song. Latifa's voice essence is a perfect paring for Amer Moneeb, this is a match made in music heaven.

Amer is the artist behind this hit song, and Latifa is his musical guest. Both stars deliver one of their most compelling vocal showings in a really long time. The song reminds us of this once celebrated pop star who was a top seller in both music and movie theaters.

The Saddest Man In Oman Sings حكاية ناي - صلاح الزدجالي

For a singer whose last song literary had the entire Gulf region dancing to his tunes, it's not easy to pull a fast one and do a dramatic song. His new sing has been titled "The Tale Of The Fife", the one tear jerking musical instrument. This is the Omani singer who made it big last year Salah Al Zadjali

This is a poem  which Salah has produced (and wrote the music) into a heart warming song, I am impressed how different his voice sounds when he is doing such songs. The song is about doing all the good things, and dreaming. The song offers life wisdom that many need to hear....

This Omani singer is the new kid on the block, he is already the star to watch and learn from. I love how true to life this singer is. Very few people can communicate such things....Here, he sings and I pray five times, I am grateful, and do glad and hope for the best. Very few singers can express those reality.

He did it once, he described how giddy and gleeful he was feeling when he fell in love, and what ind of music he started listening to, all giveaways of his emotion state. I like that he has more control over his now music, as he produces in his one Musicology studio and brad. This time, his return sounds pretty magical, he sounds like the real deal once the love takes a setback.

Enjoy: حماده هلال - دعوة خير Hamada Helal - Daawit Kheer

Blame nobody and reach out to all....is not a hippie talk but a real song by Egyptian Hamada Helal. A Song about the little ones, he is appealing to all the Arabs and Muslims to stand next to the children in Egypt at those tough times.....while most are talking politics....few realize that children are suffering as a result of adults not acting likes adults.

Not sure what inspired the song, maybe Hamada is up for a new charity that he likes and supports. Whatever it's, this is a sweet song from a very sweet man who has always rose to the occasion. This time he is not crying the fallen, but the ones that are about to.

His compassionate plea comes at the end when he urges the Arab folks to come to the rescue of the little ones in Egypt. The stories Hamada bring out are too real and by far there are too many of them.
