Not a proud moment for me, but this beloved songstress of mine had a leaked video out where some dudes are talking to her and she seems to be out of her element. Watch for yourself. She does have a lot of enemies including a loser for a former husband.

Whoever leaked this video better explain himself/herself. This seems to have been filmed in a hotel where the diva had her guard down, or she might be trying to make it to her room when those guys stopped her and took their shoot. She is a mother and she had a legal battle with her husband over the custody of the children.

It seems that she knows at least one person in this group, and while we have no date on this video, it might have been leaked by her deranged husband. To her credit  she sings so well even with having had too much to drink.

The Hypocritical People Of Khalij نفاق أهل الخليج

The Khalij or the Gulf is where millions of Arabs live, and those people happen to be the most affluent Arabs around the world. They tend to be generous people, hospitable and loving people. No one will ever take that away form them. But today I want to talk about something different. The perceptions of Khalij men and women of local female entertainers.

But first few observations--and please correct me if I am wrong.

1. Khaliji men would pay top dollars to see an Arab star sing a song of their writing and of their music.
2. Khaliji men entertainers can pretty much do whatever they want, they travel the world, they perform locally and abroad, no one puts restrictions on them.  
3. When Khaliji women sing, a number of things will happen:
1. Critics will say she is not really local--she came from some other country.
2. Haters will attack her family and cal them names.
3. Pigs will insult the female entertainer by calling her things like "ugly", "Tomboy", and such.
4. The people who usually wage those attacks are the same people who take vacation trips in pursuit of bodily pleasures to Thailand and other fun tourism   

So it's OK for the Lebanese/Moroccan/Iraqi to sing a song for those men, but when a home girl does it, it's the end of their world as we know it. What does this say about the Lebanese songstress? While most of the hate comes form men, some women also jump on the wagon and speak ill of female performers.

It's like being a singer has become another name for being a prostitute. When in reality most of those performers take their music seriously. Women can be trusted to make the right call in life, they have been raised well and for starter, God gave them the free will.  

But despite all that hate and attacks, some female voices mange to survive and make a career. There are many very gifted home grown singers who do wonders for the Gulf music scene  I shall name few from the new generation, 

1. Aseel Omran (Saudi Arabia), she acts and sings pop songs. Her voice offers planet of warmth. 
2. Shams (Kuwait), makes fresh music videos, and tells people I am form Mars--leave me alone.
3. Hala Al Turk, (Bahrain), a little girl that has sold millions of records doing kid songs.  
4. Shamma Hamdan (UAE) surfed the most attacks when she appeared on Arabs Got Talent, for change a real musician. 
5. There are always Ahlam (UAE), Hind (Bahrain), Nawal (Kuwait) Rowaida Mahrouqi (UAE) and Waad (Saudi Arabia)

I do realize that there are enlighten people everywhere, but this should not be an issue, here's another fact for you. When you allow the fans to listen to music made by the ladies of the Gulf, they have loved them every time--just see the video below. So that might scare off some dudes.

Some people might not be ready Shamma Hamdan, the jeans wearing and guitar playing lady. Taking part of Arabs Got Talent and rocking the airwaves with her style and her confidence. Not to forget her t-shirts have also been a subject of debate by some. At just 18, the schoolgirl from Dubai founds herself in the full glare of the celebrity spotlight after becoming the first Emirati woman to make it through to the finals of the hit reality TV show.

During her stint on Arabs Got Talent, the pigs dressed like men came to attack her, her clothes and her look, they really got to her and according to one interview--she cried at night. This is just because she is trying to do something different, she is not posing or copying anyone, this is her style. So back off people, those are the same people who go on pleasure trips to places like Thailand and Eastern Europe.

Shamma had to face many delusional critics:

"It was like fire, rumours spread about my origin, that I am not 'originally' Emirati, that I am from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, even Afghanistan, cause, hey, I don't look like the typical Emirati," she said. In fact the family is from Al Raisi tribe. "I am not a tomboy, not a boyat, not anything. I am just a musician who is a bit sporty," she says. "I like to surf when I am not playing music." "Imagine I performed in an abaya and shayla while playing on a guitar? What would they say? I would be called the biggest sinner in the world." 

Shamma, is from the UAE, a place known for many contradiction and global appeal. Her sister singed her up for the show's audition and she only fond out two days prior to the day of audition. She worked hard to persuade her family who have eventually given her their approval. Not only does Shamma have a great and lovely voice, she writes some of her songs and composes music as well. This talent alone puts Shamma light years ahead of your favorite pop star. Not just that, she can also compose songs in Spanish, giving her guitar an extra flavor.

I have enjoyed her most recent single (Wish Aby Aqool) where the artists heart and pride collide and give us a great performance by this dazzling young voice from the Gulf who have manged to thrive despite all the hate. Talents like Shamma should be supported not buried  because she is putting the attention back on music and good lyrics not on all other distractions.

The Secret Marriage Of Janet Jackson And Qatari Businessman

Saudi Online news website Alarabiya is out with a new story about the marriage of Janet Jackson to her Arab boyfriend, Qatari business mogul Wissam Al Mana 37 years old. Jackson, 46, the younger sister of the late singer Michael Jackson, was married to billionaire Wissam Al Mana, 37, last year but kept the news under wraps.

“The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony,” Jackson and Al Mana said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities.” The American singer is known for keeping her private life from the media, rarely speaking out about her ex-husbands.

This is Janet's third wedding, she was previously married to soul singer James DeBarge in 1984, and the marriage was annulled a year later. Her 1991 marriage to music video director Rene Elizondo (Mexican Americam) ended in divorce in 2000. That wedding was also kept private. Jackson has shared the news with Entertainment Tonight. She denied all the extravaganza that was reported by numerous media outlets.

Wissam Al Mana has been dating Janet for three years, and he is the son of the late business mogul who controls a number of business (watches, cars, fast food, construction jewelry and may more) franchise in that affluent nation. While Wissam is a Qatari citizen he was born in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The couple met in 2010 after a concert for Ms. Jackson in the Middle East and has asked her for marriage in 2011.

It's now reported that Janet Jackson wants to be a mother and Wissam seems like a family oriented man.

The Assassination Of Haifa Wehbe And Other Jokes

Haifa Wehbe is in Turkey now vacationing with her family in a resort. She will get back to Beirut to finish working on some projects. But then a news story broke, an assassination attempt on this pop diva's life. The reports of three armed men breaking into her home with weapons (including a blade in one of their mouths) three guys.

Haifa found time to speak to the press about this exaggerated report. "This is not an assassination attempt, I am not personally targeted." Haifa added, "My home is in a safe area and my guard are there." As for the reported incident, "it's some skirmish between my guards and few regular guys" Of course she lived in an upscale neighborhood, of course she has guards and of course some deranged fans would want to try to visit her at home.

But Haifa found time also to talk up her upcoming music videos--one shot in New York in the editing stages, and more recent one shot in Beirut (Izay Ansak) also in the editing room. They will be released in the right time Haifa stated. Haifa has weathered the divorce storm very well, and has manged to escape the media circus. She had also to talk back to some of her peers who have called her out on her weight issues.

Jimmy Amar, And Who Is The Real Father Song

Amar, the songstress from Lebanon had a baby out of wedlock, she named him Jimmy and she sued the alleged father who is a business mogul. Jimmy, the father counter sued and refused to take the parental test. Then some low key drummer turned out and said he is the father of that little kid.

But before this had happened Amar had made a song for her son, telling hims she loved him and that the no good father of his refuses to admit his linage to him. No one really knows who the father ids, I still think the business man may have to confess that he is the secret father, and that guy was paid to play the role of the father.

Amar is back in business as she starred in a movie this year few months ago in a forgettable film that makes some quick cash.

Nawal Loves Children But HATES Sandy

Lebanese pop songstress Nawal Al Zogby in the city of Dubai where she was doing a charity function. But her good deed went punished as reports of Nawal interfering to deny pop star Sandy an appearance at the same charity function. Nawal did not comment on this matter, but Sandy took issue and made a press conference about the ordeal.

Sandy wrote half a dozen press releases about the incident and is making a headache to the Lebanese pop star. Now Egyptian stars want answers as this has become an issue of national pride. Nawal flew first class from Beirut to sing in a posh hotel to benefit the little ones. If charity was her goal, why would she stopped another songstress from doing a good deed?

Melhem Barakat Talks Sh*t On #Egypt

The moody and brutally honest Lebanese composer Melhem Barakat has never disappointed in alienating people and insulting friends. Last year, he criticized one of Arabia's brightest diva's Magida El Roumi for not featuring the song he composed for her--it was included on the first track of the album. Months later, he was in a concert and used a very dirty word live on stage to insult the drummer in his band (see here).

This time the gifted and obnoxious composer aims low, he is out sending Egypt's entertainment industry insults, speaking to a Kuwait publication "El Raei" among the gems:

1. Lebanese singers should be banned from singing Egyptian pop songs, the minister of media should enforce this band
2. The love of Egyptians is not worth nothing, most of my money  I made in concerts in Syria, Jordan and the Gulf--not even one concert in Egypt.
3. Egyptians biggest priority is to fight off ant successful Lebanese singer.
4. Egyptian media TV, radio and online publications hardly air any Lebanese songs, and they only air what the Lebanese singer sang in the Egyptian dialect.  

Those allegations come from a guy with temperament issues, a man who has lost his bearing. Ask Fayrouz, Sabah, Wadie El Safie, and more recently Wael Kfoury, Ragheb Alama, Wael Jassar, Elissa, Nancy Ajram and many many more names.

Those are self centered comments from a guy who thinks the entire universe rotates around his work and his persona. I do not deny that there are some names in Egypt who insist on celebrating the success of the Egyptian entertainers, but Egypt has always been warm toward artists form Lebanon and other Arab countries.

Lebanese May Matar Quits The Show Biz For Now

May Matar was everywhere three years ago when she released a response song to chauvinistic inclined song. She was cool, proud and she walked tall. Then her two subsequent singles came through, she made some concerts and at least two music videos. but now she is ready to release her last song which she personally wrote and composed. "La Ya Qalby" is that forthcoming song.

May has expressed her frustration with the show biz, and she has made it clear she would not be honored to work in this industry that contradicts so many of her values. And yes she is also getting married soon and has a wedding to plan. May has just gotten engaged to a Lebanese man whom she has been seeing for about three years now.  "You just cannot make a living In It Anymore", "And thanks Good, I did not do any private parties where I would have to compromise my upbringing."

May has added, "I am in the process of opening a new healthy eatery in partisanship with my brother", "I am also looking into starting a beauty salon where I would manage it" But May is a smart person all around, "I am go back to doing songs for the fun of it, not for the money"

The young songstress ruled out any role her fiance has with her decision -he was disappointed in her decision  but welcomes it too. He actually traveled to Canada to see her concert over there. I have always admired May, and I support her decision  she was smart enough to realize it and come public about it.

A Typical Press Conference For A Pop Star

Pop Star Mohamed Hamaki felt his album was not selling as well as it should, so he held a press conference where he announced a new edition of the album with added bonus DVD and a concert pass for whatever concerts he holds for a year.

To hold the event, they have rented a fancy hotel room, got the manger from Nogoom Records to talk shop, the artists and his manger. It was an intimate event with the star and few press people who seem to be more of fans than critics.

The impressive thing is that album has been produced by a radio station who has decided to put out an album. Thus, a radio station has branched out to a music label now. Their first star they produce for is Hamaki. The business manger talked about the business side and the behind the scene. Hamaki picked them over other production companies.

Glad to see a new company coming out in Egypt to produce good wholesome Egyptian pop. I love the part when someone asked him about a song where he thinks the music has been ripped from a Western song. Hamaki called out the guy on that in class though.

Vintage Cars Showcase In Palestine

For a historic place like Palestine, vintage and classic cars seem to be all too popular with those who can afford and those who have a long memory. In a public square in Ramallah, owners of such cars met and had dozens of onlookers who wanted to put their hands on classic cars.

I think the moment when the owners asking the government to protect them is laughable. We always want the government to solve our problems  It seems that the problem these owners have is the registration, as they think their cars do not drive on the road and this need to be exempted.

Are The Boys Of One Direction Officially Gay?

Last week, to the joy of the young, the young at heart, gay boys and lecherous cable TV execs all around the globe, British boy band One Direction released the video for their single "Kiss You." This video is clearly fucking homoerotic. Most of the boys are on record as women-daters, but their overall image is full of winks, nudges and crotch-grabs. Maybe they are the missing link of sexual attraction.

Marketing is a bitch, and for a boy band, they need all the help they can get. Playing the sexual ambiguity game so appeal to more people. Gay, straight, confused and what's not. WE have always known that the boys of One Direction has always been open about their open flirtation with each other and the idea that they are, in fact, boy band members who have sex with boy band members. Denials be damned, "Kiss You" is their most bromantic offering yet.



One Direction fans who aren't swooning tweens approach this game of Spot the Gay as a sport. Entire Tumblrs are devoted to sniffing out and reporting signs of their intergroup gayness. What makes One Direction beautiful is what makes them seem gay. Weather they are gay will remain a mystery until One Direction goes away, we will find out. But they might be seeking to please their gay fans who happen to love the same things tween girls like.

Their original trade is meat shop, they were butchers. Then the family decided to enter the film making business, at first they butchered the Egyptian industry with shitty movies, now that they grew large, they are butchering the competition.

Mohamed El Sobky and his clan produce 7 of 10 Egyptian movies, they have the relationships with theaters to get their movies screened there. They hire no talents and then call is a movie, a local dancer, a local singer, a cute Lebanese  a chubby fat guy to crack jokes, a nerd and a bully. Those are the characters in El Sobky movies, they tell the same story over and over.

They do not make movies for messages or for the sake of art, they just want a quick buck and they make their money's worth and make a good profit. Their movies is something critics love to hate, as they are over the top with the sex jokes and showing ghetto Egyptian parts of town. They have said in the past, "We do not like art movies, they do not make money" and they are right.

But as of last the year El Sobky is changing their playbook  they still make mostly silly comedies and singing movies that plays like a wedding. They have also greenlit at least two serious movies this Eid season, and they seem to have gotten good reviews. The surprise is that those serious movies, made some money, but not a lot compared to the supported to be funny blockbusters. Kareem El Sobky is spearheading those movies and he works to see this movies come to light. They are now producing a film for Ahmed Mekky, Egyptian most creative actor

The competing film studios are compiling that the four leading Eid movies are the four movies produced by El Sobky Studios. The two other movies have tanked. The rivals are accusing the company of using dirty tactics. According to a source the people who sell at the tickets booth have been turning people away from the other movies by saying the movies are sold out when in face they are not. If true this is a problem.

The four movies, El Soby produced for the Eid are "ساعة و نص" و"مهمة فى فيلم قديم" و "عبده موتة" والآنسة مامي".  Two of those movies have been called silly and an insult to The Egyptian cinema industry. The other studios have released two movies that did not manage to make much cash at the box office ""جوة اللعبة "و "برتيتا"."

Also, there are other movie houses out there, but since Egypt is an sticky situation  most investors are not putting money for movies. El Sobky knows how to make movies for less, and they are able to cut their costs, and take a risk. Some of their success can be attributed to their know how of those marginalized communities in Egypt, they know how to attract those people to the movies--use music with local singers who sing in simple street slang.

Asalah Sentenced To Prison And Fine

Syrian diva and vocal supporter of the Syrian revolution Asalah has lost her case against brother who is suing her. Iyham sued his sister for defamation and libel in Syrian court. This lawsuit has some political nature as it only took place when the songstress started taking harsh stands against the Assad regime in Syria.

According to news reports, the court sentenced for a suspended month of imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand Egyptian pound. The songstress was quoted to have called her brother mentally challenged for his vocal support for the Assad regime.

Family feuds are not very common in the Arab entertainment industry, they are very common in the West. This is unfortunate, stars have little control over family members.

There are few guys who are proud of their Al mansoura town. They wanted to tell their fans, that you no longer have to travel to Cairo and Alexandria to hear good music live. The dudes brought rock music into their town and from that town, they brought their music to the rest of Egypt.

Their formula is making oriental rock, telling Egyptian stories live to the masses. The released singles, and then those singles became an album--which has built up their fan base.

Al Mansoura means the victories, a 120 miles Northeast of Cairo on the other bank of the Nile delta. A city know for its architectural style and unique dialect. The band is extremely proud of their town and they want to have their stamp on the musical scene from their victorious town.

I Know Who Killed Tunisian Songstress Zikrah ذكرى!

The official story, her husband was jealous killed her and shot himself on November 28, 2003.

Police reported domestic staff at the couple's home as saying that Ayman Al Swidi, an Egyptian businessman, used a submachine gun to fire the fatal shots at his wife, 42, during a marital dispute. Her body was found with 15 bullets in the chest and head, police said, after earlier saying that only four shots had been fired. Swidi also killed the singer's manager, Khadiga Salaheddin and his own advisor  Amr Hassan Sabri, during the fracas at their apartment in the chic Zamalek area of the Egyptian capital. Salaheddin and Sabri were themselves married.

But most people did not buy this story for one second. It's a bogus story and people with little knowledge believe this cute story an certainly understand a man can kill for love. However, there has been a number of conspiracy theories about the murder of the beloved diva Zikra.

Those theories are focused on a song she did right before she was murdered  An anti-Saudi regime song where she puts the country and its royal regime to shame for using Americans and others to protect the house of Allah. In the song she says, we can skip the hajj. It was an harsh criticism of the regime and its shameful politics.

Arab singers do not do these songs anymore  but now we have more info thanks to one journalist who have investigated the murder and the back-story. Hassan Abdel Fattah is among Egypt hardest working journalists and boldest perhaps. Hassan argues that Swidi has no trouble divorcing people as he has married few times before and he was never a violent person. According to Hassan, the Qaddafi written the controversial song which Zikra sang--the song dubs the King of Saudi Arabia as a retard and an idiot who is the song of a retard. The song aired in Libya and when a wind of it got to Saudi Arabia--they spring into action.

I do not know if this story is true, but I know the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Libya do not stand one another. Qaddafi had good relationships with most Arab singers. Plus Zikra is Tunisians--Libya's next door.   Also husbands killing their wives is so uncommon among Arab celebrities. All those things make the official story fishy.

Arabic Entertainment's Biggest Loser Divorcees

Divorce is not uncommon in the entertainment industry, the Arab stars are not immune from it. It happens often and it seems to go away quickly and privately. But when it fails it blows up in everyone's face. 

Most marriages work and last a long time, but it only seems that each of those marriages has to end in divorces, when in reality, only few of them end up separating. There are happy marriages too, and they do not have to take away from the entertainer's success. It does get complicated when the spouse is also a business manager of a partner in some ventures. 

Two examples come to mind when I think of Arab celebrity divorces, I am only going to talk about the loser husbands who have been dumped due to a a number of reasons. Those men refuse to go away quietly and insist in making a scene:

1. Asalah Nasri has broken up with her husband after 14 years together and two kids! Ayman Al Dahabi has been cheating on Asalah and has admitted so on public TV. He is a bully too who tired to intimidate the songstress with lawsuits. He has also insisted on playing a key role in her stardom. Ayman has argued that he will give the Arab world another Asalah, but so far he has not done anything like that. Asalah's career and family are going very strong and nobody cares about Ayman and his various stuns for attention. 
2. Nawal El Zoghby announced her divorce in August 2008 that she and her husband broke up. The official divroce took years to validate. Nawal El Zoughbi and Eli Deeb marriage that lasted around 15 years. Nawal has three children from Elie, their first a daughter, named Tia born in 1998 and twin boys Georgy and Joey born in the year 2001. A year prior to the official divorce, rumors spread that Elie had strongly opposed to some scenes from Nawal 2007 clips for the songs Aghla Al Habaib and Shu Akhbarak, in which Nawal El Zoghby and lebanese male model, Saleh Abdul Nabi, acted some intimate scenes. Apparently Eli Deeb was jealous. So far, we are ok, but then he goes off attacks the songstress for being a bad mother and an ill role model for their kids--he is so wrong. He tops that by going to hire a new singer to work with her to make her the next Nawal. He even produced an album for that young women with a title like that Nawal has been known for. Needless to say the young female singer has the blondish looks as well.

I guess, I do not really understand these guys, by talking too much about their divorce, they are hurting their exes, their kids and making themselves look pathetic.

The Beirut Bomb Canceled Concerts And Events

Beirut is no mode to party, and they are certainly in no mode to celebrate the Eid as the mourn the death of many of their country men and women who have been murdered as a result of the car bomb assassination. A number of Eid concerts have already been canceled out of respect and out of business decisions  For one, the tourists won't come back in waves now.

A concert for Haifa Wahbe, Melhem Zain and Majid Foany has been shelved now, not delayed but full cancellation  A press conference for Rotana's newest singing sensation Nahwa was cancelled  Nahwa was holding the event to launch her impressive throwback album in Beirut.

A joint event/conference with Assi Hellani and the UNICEF was called off by the artist who issued a press release, condemning the terrorist attacks. The even was to be held on Monday the 22. The event was going to announce the Lebanese singer as an ambassador for the Life Lebanon that will raise funds and provide aid to marginalized areas of Lebanon.

Ragheb Alama "Not Kidding" In His Upcoming Album

While at MBC Egypt's launch gala, the Lebanese super star talked about next album project. It will be titled  "I Am Not Kidding" and it will have seven to eight tracks in a number of Arabic dialect. One of those Dialects will be the Iraqi one, something Ragheb has not done before. Ragheb is one of the few Arab rock stars who have made music only one side of their personality. As he has a hit TV show as a judge on Arab Idol as well as other ventures.

I hope Ragheb gives us a good album, the one before the last one was A, the last one was a B album. While he performed in the MBC gala, the notorious Egyptian dancer Dina performed an act to some of his songs while he was on stage.

Ragheb has been engaged in Lebanon in the aftermath of the bomb that went off there and he has attended the funeral for the government official who have been targeted.

Hear This: Mai Selim Is Divorced Now

The Jordanian pop songstress is reported to have divorced form her husband of two years--businessman Ali El Refaei. If you recall, Mai had planned to have a big wedding in Cairo during the protests, but that never happend. So the couple moved the ceremony to Amman Jordan.

Just like that sudden wedding, now we learn of the sudden and secretive divorce between the odd couple. According to sources close to the couple the divorce took place last week and it was not a public event. The couple are getting along and seem to be to have resolved all their differences. The news has not been confirmed or denied by either party.

Together they have a little girl (Lily) whom they gave a huge first year birthday bash just months ago. 2012 has been a tough year and it seems we have seen a lot more divorces in this year than previous years. Looking through the Facebook pictures, you really cannot find many or any with her husband Ali. Many of those pictures are with celebrities or with Mai's own sisters.
