Bassem Yousef Shouldn't Go To Jail, But He Should Think Twice

The famed Egyptian host of some TV show with satire news is being sued. For more on his legal woes, visit this Arabic link it details some of the charges. To be clear, Baseem is no hero of mine. You too should be tired of being told who your heroes are. I am sick of lies circulating around the internet that conservative Muslims are the ones who want Bassem Yousef in Jail. I think it's safe to say, a lot of business interest people want to see him in jail. This is not a joke, you see laws of defamation and libel are tricky even in the West. You could be in serious trouble if someone has a serious case against you.

Per US Legal Journal
Most defendants in defamation lawsuits are newspapers or publishers, which are involved in about twice as many lawsuits as are television stations. Most plaintiffs are corporations, businesspeople, entertainers and other public figures, and people involved in criminal cases, usually defendants or convicts but sometimes victims as well.

Bassem is not doing his show for free, he has a contract worth millions, and with that comes a great deal of prestige and access. I bet he enjoys all that fame and media attention he received from around the world. I love how American media is using this ordeal to further damage Egypt and get back at president Morsi--the guy who won an election.

I have one question, do you think if Bassem Yousef was a support of the president of Egypt, the international media would care what happens to them? No! Not in a million year. It's all about self-interest. CNN and such follow Bassem only because he is casing trouble in Egypt and because he is critical of the democratically elected president.

All he has to know, those media folks who cheer him on, will be with him so long as he stays on the same page with them. The moment he tries to do or say something un-american or hostile to the West, they all will jump ship. So he would lose at home and lose abroad.

Every night of the week, Bassem Yousef finds a way to call the Morsi an idiot, and when he is not on air, he is tweeting about him. As someone who holds freedom of speech to be absolute  I know there is no such thing.

Bassem Yousef is milking his 15 minutes of fame, and his friends are talking about him as if he is some modern-day Martin Luther King. MLK did not have a million dollar contract, MLK did not insult people for money, MLK did not try to embarrass his foes. Let's stop pretending Bassem is fighting the good fight. He is just fighting for a pay check.

Now, I do not want to see him jailed for stuff he said, he should not have to be subjected to a witch haunt. He must now know, that he is playing with the fat cats, and if he tries to rock the boat too much, he would be shown the door.

On another note, is Bassem Yousef being patriotic? I do not think he puts Egypt first! It only takes one deranged person to ruin the reputation of an entire nation, Bassem Yousef has entertained so many people and in the process he has mocked all things that make Egypt the place loved by so many people. Because last thing, Egypt needs is a voice that promotes divisions.

If things get serious  I am certain he would not have a hard time moving somewhere else and doing his who--I think he might actually end up doing that, I see him doing his show in Dubai or even Beirut. It's sad but Egypt right now is in a delicate state.

See Shams Open Fire On Retried Fadel Shaker

She was a fan, she thinks he is a gifted musicians  Then she says once this sense is gone, the man is gone. She takes issue with his beard, and his lessons he has preaching in public. She thinks artists are meant ot unite people and not promote a certain ideology.

She is a Muslim just like he is, her trouble with him is his public feud on all other singers, he was not gone away quietly. I like Shams, and she has never shied away from controversy herself. She is no fan of the retired Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker who has been busy promoting the Salafi way. According to Fadel Shaker, he wants his fans to grow beards like he did.

I think Shams has some good points, but she should be careful not to mix the personal with the business. The Kuwaiti songstress seems really disgusted with Fadel and his choices. I think Shams really hates those religious conservatives who often attack her and her choices, so for her Fadel is their loudmouth spokesperson

On Her Birthday, See Haifa Wehbe As A Child Photo

All these old men who have been leering at her now feel like crap. Haifa Wehbe, the most notorious and perhaps most sexy among the female pop star population has released an old image of her--that that old I hope. Official Haifa Wehbe is 37 years old. Some say she is way older.

I do not know the picture shows that she is not really that old--the quality of the color picture may support her argument that she is way younger than what most think. Keep on mind she is a grandmother. March 10th is her birthday. We are being told this is her picture at two years of age--I think she might be at least four judging by the length of her hair.

Her fans are happy for her, and keep talking her up...what will be next for Haifa? Since her divorce and it seems too many knives are out to settle the score with her. She really makes men crazy, women jealous or dismissive of her star power. Indeed she has brought a lot of entertainment to far too many people, has enriched the celebrity news services and has made herself rich.

Watch a video put together where you van take a trip down memory lane and see her greatest hits.

Jimmy Amar, And Who Is The Real Father Song

Amar, the songstress from Lebanon had a baby out of wedlock, she named him Jimmy and she sued the alleged father who is a business mogul. Jimmy, the father counter sued and refused to take the parental test. Then some low key drummer turned out and said he is the father of that little kid.

But before this had happened Amar had made a song for her son, telling hims she loved him and that the no good father of his refuses to admit his linage to him. No one really knows who the father ids, I still think the business man may have to confess that he is the secret father, and that guy was paid to play the role of the father.

Amar is back in business as she starred in a movie this year few months ago in a forgettable film that makes some quick cash.

Saudi Sex Symbol Tomy Omran Pressured To Give Up His Passport

Also read "A Saudi Shows His But, Saudi Arabic Freaks Out"

For a country that has a hard time with sexuality, a country where most of its people have to leave it to go on fun trips that involve so many acts they are unthinkable at home, the Kingdom has a funny way of telling people how to live their lives. Saudis would admit in private of their double standard and pi-polar attitude about sex and sexuality.

The American born Tomy Omran has had enough with the attacks and name calling from people living in Saudi Arabia where his family comes form. Tomy is very proud of his family, and his last name, but it seems people in Saudi Arabia have a limited understanding of what it means to be a Saudi. That means you can do fun stuff away form the camera and not on camera. It seems that a picture of Tomy's passport was leaked to the press where his name has the famous Al Saud last name--which makes him a royal in that kingdom.

His old man told him not to use his last name, so the California born young man who has shoe the Arab world by posing close to nude for a Greek beach magazine. He is now had enough and wants to give up the problematic side of him--he won't call himself Saudi anymore. So Saudi men can feel good about their reputation in the world as pious worshipers in public and party animals and first rate club goers in private.

He made the announcement on his tweeter account  @Tomyomran that he will be giving his citizenship for his own peace of mind. Tomy has been accused of being a foreign agent and spy whose mission is to destroy the conservative Saudi society's image. Rumor has it that one Saudi princess is among his biggest fans and supporting him to stir the debate on freedom and expression in the Kingdom. I think this might be the right call giving the lame attacks on Tomy. At least he is an American and they cannot harm him no matter how they try.

Tomy denies those connections and asserts that he is trying to give Saudi Arabia a makeover as more and more people talking about this former Saudi talent, he has gotten the world media to take notice of his provocative songs and choices.

Nawal Loves Children But HATES Sandy

Lebanese pop songstress Nawal Al Zogby in the city of Dubai where she was doing a charity function. But her good deed went punished as reports of Nawal interfering to deny pop star Sandy an appearance at the same charity function. Nawal did not comment on this matter, but Sandy took issue and made a press conference about the ordeal.

Sandy wrote half a dozen press releases about the incident and is making a headache to the Lebanese pop star. Now Egyptian stars want answers as this has become an issue of national pride. Nawal flew first class from Beirut to sing in a posh hotel to benefit the little ones. If charity was her goal, why would she stopped another songstress from doing a good deed?

Tamer Hosny's Family and The American Citizenship

Egyptian pop star and bad boy Tamer Hosny is in trouble with the media at home. The reason? He took himself, his expecting wife and moved to American for at least four months where he will be attending to some business arrangements he have. I am certain he will be recording and filming stuff during the duration of his trip to America.

Tamer Hosny is expecting a bay girl and it seems the time of the birth will come during his stay in America--which will mean his daughter will be born in the United States. That means she will be an American citizen. If this happens, it's neither against the law of either the US or Egypt. It's only illegal if there are an organized crime and deception going on. This is because some Asian and other international folks organize trips for certain pregnant women to give birth on this American soil.

Back to Tamer, the media in Egypt has shamed the artist for such a move--first he dodges the army, bad mouths folks in Tahrir Square and showed Hosny Mubarak with praises. Then he leaves Egypt seeking another citizenship. Tamer is aware of those reports and has issued a press release, "My wife and I are in the US for business, she may and may not give birth here, but I have contracts that I have singed where I am under obligation to be in the States", he added "For me the Egyptian citizenship is better for me and for my little girl"

This press release says all the right things, and I am sure the US official would be happy to hear him making it vague. I tell you what, Tamer you are doing the right thing, and folks back home in Egypt would do the same if they had the means, they just like to fool themselves with such nonsense. But you also do not have to seek the American citizenship for you girl. No one will force you to get it for her, you can chose to do that.

So as for the media loudmouths, they can suck it, Tamer is not doing something you would not do for your kids--give them a chance at a better life. I have come to learn people in Egypt just hate his lovely Moroccan wife Basma Boussil--many women do.

The Exotic Muslim Dude Who Rocks Is One Direction Zayn Malik

Zayn with His Little Sister

Zayn Malik is often referred to as the coolest member of One Direction. The incredibly handsome rebellious kid whose tattoos and nonchalant behavior, there is an observant Muslim boy. the young singer was still deeply hurt by the remarks — many of which attacked the singer for his religion.

This all started when Zayn shared a photo that showed his girlfriend and his family celebrating Eid, a Muslim holiday. On October 3, Celebuzz reported that Malik got a bunch of hateful messages on Twitter, making fun of his religion.

A practicing Muslim, Zayn, admitted he gets online abuse duty to his religious beliefs. “You can say whatever you want about me, I’m not really bothered. But when it starts to upset people I care about or I hear about it from my mum, then that’s a problem."

“My little cousin put up a family picture at Eid because she got a photo with Perrie and she was so happy about it. But then everybody just gave it to me double barrel,” he explained. I think the good comes with the bad. He also have fans all over the world, love it or hate it many of them are Muslims tween girls.

"I believe that your religion should be between you and whoever your belief is in," said Malik in a recent interview. "I don’t think you should stick it in people’s faces. I think you should just keep it to yourself, and that’s how I’ve always been with it. I just had seen a few things that had annoyed me. I thought we had moved away from that and we’re living in the 21st century and people could accept people from different religions," he added.

To his credit he has done so himself  he is not sporting his religion around. He is not making points about things he can and cannot do because of Islam. He is just one of the guys who most of us find harmless pop stars who do well for their fans. He is not on One Direction because of his religion, but because of his talent, good looks and marketability.

He comes form a traditional family and he observes holidays, and celebrations with them. He grew up as a minority and with that you must hold into your values. Christians celebrate holidays and so do Jews and Hindus and what's not. If those attackers are against all religions, it's a one thing, if they are not for Islam--then too bad for them. It's all about family, we are born into a religion regardless of what people of faith have you believe

Zayn Malik should really not sweat the small stuff, instead he he should focus on the millions of supporters that he has sending him love every day, it isn't easy to ignore the haters—especially when they are attacking your religion. It has not been an easy road for Zayn, who has gotten really upset over the angry tweets.
Speaking of abuse he receives from some people on Twitter, he told The Sun's Fabulous magazine: “Nasty things [were said] like I’m a terrorist, and this and that. How can you justify that? How can you call me that and get away with it?
"[They] shouldn’t have wound me up, but [they] did," he said, admitting that the negative, degrading messages that he has received have managed to get under his skin. Of course, this is normal—what can anyone expect from a 19-year-old kid? This is all new to him and, sadly, his religion has made him a target.

It really hurts when other Muslims attack him for not doing what they think is right, the guy is no saint and neither are we. We like to tell other people how to live their lives, but when it comes to our own lives, they are riddled with imperfections. Such ignorant comments will further isolate a young and talented man who can make a positive impact. He is just a kid who likes to sing and to self promote, if you disagree then go deactivate your Facebook account.

Lebanon's Hottest Composer Salim Salemeh Speaks

Salim Salemeh is one of most known and popular composers in Lebanon. He is never too busy, but most Lebanese stars seek him out and work in his studio to record songs they are hoping to release with the man. Salim likes to defend his work and he does not take criticism well. He is often caught in arguments with other singers and composers in Lebanon. Salim was on a radio show the other day and he has shed some lights on what it feels to work with those pop stars we love so much. Here are few nuggets of information from the composer.

  1. Elissa is the hardest singer to work with, she demanded a lot in the studio and hard to please.
  2. Nancy is the easiest one to work with, she does not give anybody a heard time at all. He loves working with her and he gives her his best work.
  3. Melhim Zein can also be a headache and so is Mohamed Iskander and Ragheb Alamah--they all want good material and it takes time.
  4. Elissa's hit form 2009 album "'Aa Baly Habibi" was offered to Nancy Ajram first, but because she was pregenant at the time, it did not make sense for her to sing about wearing the bridal dress.
  5. A hit song is the one that changes the career and the price of a singer, Faris Karam had his skirt song, Mohamed Iskander has "The Republic of My Heart" hit and other as well.
  6. Saleem thinks Ragheb Alama is the Arab world's most important artist and not the Egyptian pop star Amr Diab.
  7. Assi Hallani is not a great singer composer combo, something Melhim Barakat argues. He still needs time argues Saliim.
  8. Not a big fan of Fares Karam's new song, he thinks it was made by a bunch of kids who little experiences. The song is about not lying to one's wife
  9. Ramy Ayach needs a good heart and better manners, he has the right to say he would not work with me, but he is crossing the line when he says he does not believe in my talent. Ramy needs to go back to his old style that made him popular in the first place.

Salim El Turk: I "Copied" The Music Video And Elissa Knew

Salim El Turk was caught ripping the idea of his most recent music video for Elissa's music video from a Lowe's commercial and a coca cola commercial as well. Seriously  now we take ideas for Arabic music videos from commercials for home improvement stores  Whats' next a plumber will be directing the next big music video?

According to one interview, Elissa was aware of the copying and she was fine with it. To be clear, Salim is the one who stole the ideas and presented them as his, but he was not lucky in hiding his work. Will he own up to his lazy work? We were all dancing in cheers for the music video, until Lebanese director Bachir Asmar wrote the following on his Twitter

People tuned in and the snowball affect took place. Thanks to Bachir we all learned the truth about Salim who did the impossible to get Elissa back after six years (they had a disagreement on his direction of her music video, she went with another director. ) It seems this will be the last time those two work together, they are turning the celebration into mourning of the creative forces. But Lowe's is loving the controversy, their commercial is now an online hit.

Salim spoke to the Lebanese publication El Nashra and admitted to coping the music video, he has also said he did not trick anyone. I should not be attacked this way, and Elissa did not object to the copying. The viewer does not care for the source of the video, they only care for the image of the artists in the picture, Salim has also said.

I did not smuggle drugs, so this should not be called a scandal  argued Salim. I have presented Elissa in a new light, like you never have seen before. Other Arabic music videos are copied he said. He has also said his budget was one tenth of that for the Lowe's ad. I cannot really be sued said Salim, because we recreated out own images and altered the concept.

Yes, but you are still a thief, he has never mentioned the source of inspiration. He stole the ad frame for frame. Directors are meant to be creative and original, you are neither. I think this does not reflect good on the director, he is a big loser and he is bringing Elissa down with him.

Asalah Sentenced To Prison And Fine

Syrian diva and vocal supporter of the Syrian revolution Asalah has lost her case against brother who is suing her. Iyham sued his sister for defamation and libel in Syrian court. This lawsuit has some political nature as it only took place when the songstress started taking harsh stands against the Assad regime in Syria.

According to news reports, the court sentenced for a suspended month of imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand Egyptian pound. The songstress was quoted to have called her brother mentally challenged for his vocal support for the Assad regime.

Family feuds are not very common in the Arab entertainment industry, they are very common in the West. This is unfortunate, stars have little control over family members.

Overview of 2012 Arabic Entertainment, Fueds, And Gossips

Life did not end in 2012, but the career of one popular hit maker it was the end--Fadel Shaker quit. The social media helped fuel feuds between stars among them Ahlam (UAE) and Shams (Kuwait). Latifa and Haifa Wehbe hate one another.

Many Arabic festivals took place, like the one in Cairo for movies. A number of stars got sued and attacked for previous works--the law of court. Justice has been served and those firecrackers have lost their attacks. Other news are included in this much video.

Ragheb Alama had a good year and has sold his new fragrance. And in other news, 2012 saw the most released Christmas and Christians albums. Few got married and some got divorced.

Sherine To Collaborate With Her Ex For Her Album

Being divorced sucks, but keeping things cordial in the aftermath of a divorce is no easy task. I like how Sherine has conducted herself throughout her devastating divorce. Sherine and her former husband composer Moustafa Awad have separated this summer after five years of marriage and having two cute little girls. The media seemed to respect and honor the couple as they have not tried to make a huge deal out of this sudden divorce.

Sherine has refused to talk much about the divorce and kept herself busy on The Voice. That was a great move as most people were surprised by her sudden divorce. The pop diva has been busy working on her big comeback album after she has been freed from the shackles of Rotana. She is producing her own album, so she is the boss.

The good news, the rocking songstress and TV personality has picked her husband to give her three new musical composition for her songs. The news was shared by the former husband in an interview. the composer has commented, that songs have nothing to do with their disagreement and split.

On the same note, they couple may be reconciling and getting back together--they had their divorce story, now they may be able to rekindle their love once again.

Hany Shaker and Mohamed Mounir Disagree

Both are great singers, both are care for their country Egypt and both have a solid fan base. One does romance like no other and the other keeps changing styles. Mounir however, had this to say about stars who join shows like Arab Idol, The Voice and other shows:

"I consider singers as judges on those TV shows is like a retirement" Hany Shaker who appears on Sawt Al Haya as a judge did not find those words accurate. But Hany is classy and he kept it so, "I think those who say that singers doing commercials are lame, I disagree with them" he added, "I think such commercials add to the star, not take away form him"

Why does this matter, Mohamed Mounir has been doing ads for some years now, his latest is for a mobile company. Hany had sobering words, "I do not think people should rush to judgement, being part of those shows is doing a service to the society"

I think Mounir was right to state his opinion, and Hany was right to disagree and counter such opinion. This is a healthy discussion

Jerks Prompt Tamer Hosny Not To Release His Wife's Debut Album

Tamer Hosny is a changed man, but the people of Arabia are still the same, they are conservative, confused and sometimes hypocritical. Thus, they are hard to please. Right before they got engaged and now married Egyptian pop sensation Tamer Hosny worked with his friend (now his wife) Bassma Boussil on a music video and a duet. The promo was released last year and there was a romantic love story in those short seconds.

Still Bassma Boussil wanted her music career to flourish  so Tamer Hosny introduced her to his producer Mohsen Jaber to produce an album for her--which he did. the album is ready to be released any minute now. But Tamer Hosny and Bassma Boussil are a couple now, so the game changes a bit. This is an issue because some jerks living at home with their parents put videos and pictures of Bassma when she was on Star Academy. Such people are haters and forget had this been their family, they would have been upset.

It's a tough position for Tamer to be in, if the album releases, jerks will talk and people will think Tamer is not being protective of his wife--translation one has to act as if they are obsessive. The album does not release, lots of money has to be paid back to the producers, and Bassma might not like to start her relationship with Tamer by ending her own music career.

I wish our people would talk less, and mind their business. so what she is singing not putting on a naked dancing show. But the latest rumor is that another songstress will perform the same songs which Bassma has already recorded -that would lower the sunk costs. What's missing is Bassma's voice on all this, she has yet to make a statement about her marriage first and second about her album.

Mai Hariri Opens Fires At Other Lebanese Female Celebrities

Mai Hariri is not out to make friend with her latest interview where she was given a chance to speak about her sizzling new music video where she is playing the sexy card--she did very well indeed. But Mai is one of those pop songsters that have yet to get a huge commercial success  She does have what it takes for the role and she has a lovely voice.

But it seems that she has no friends among her peers in Lebanon, so she spoke about other pop starlets and shared her nuggets of wisdom. I like her honest, I am the better looking one among them and my feminine side tops them all. Here are some of her comments.

  1. Maya Diab is lacking in the feminine side. Maya is too tall.
  2. Haifa Wahbe got the feminine side, and the beauty, but her body is average.
  3. Myriam Faris and Nancy Ajram are not beautiful but they are cute. Myraim is too short.

I am sure there is some truth in there, but truth hurts and some people might not love such comments. May is talking up herself. Mai feels her looks intimidate her peers. She is funny too, "I am a mother and I have given birth  and still look good without no plastic" "I get my looks form my late mother, my cheeks are awesome"

Watch This Controversial Lebanese Music Video By Myriam Klink (@myriamklinkk ) ميريام كلينك ثورة كلينك

Myriam Klink is a Lebanese model who is sick of politics and politicians in Lebanon. She is mocking them in the nude, and the controversial part is when she danced in a cemetery. This is a sexy voice song meant to seduce your soul by using that pitch of voice, groaning and moaning. The song about a private revolution started by one talent-less good looking young lady from Lebanon

Klink had done something interesting here, while most people mock art and singing, this time joke is on them and their political. The video went viral and raised some brows. Myriam is now saying what other people in Lebanon have been saying for the past thirty years--she only does it in less clothes. The controversy broke out when they learned the clip was filmed in a cemetery. In her defense, Myriam argued she filmed in front of her grandfather's grave.

I like the glamour part and the private jet. She is a model and she is no stranger to fashion. I am seeing hints of Haifa Wehbe. Weapons all over the place, debits, taxes, Lebanese racing to the closest embassy.  Myriam has no trouble taking off her clothes and showing her private parts. Call is pron grade entertainment with an agenda. But she is doing well, more than half a million people have already seen this clip.

The politics in Lebanon are absurd, maybe they can only be embarrassed by one absurd music video

Razan Al Moghrabi Is An Idiot And Here's Why

Razan Al Moghrabi is currently hosting the Egyptian singing competition show "The Voice of Life" or Sawt Al Hayah. This is her comeback show after a video of her raunchy acts surfaced on the web. She took a year off and no one wanted her on TV. But then she is back now and things started to get good for her all over again.

Until she had one star on her show Nawal Al Zoghby appeared on the show where Razan presents. The young people on the show seemed to be in love with Nawal and her songs--they have done a great job covering some of her better known songs.

Then Razan told Nawal, "I love your new music video, it has Smashed records and has shattered the earth" She said in Arabic, "الكليب الجديد رائع وبيجنن ومكسر الأرض" Sounds good, but Nawal responded, "My new music video has not been released yet". Razan tried to recover form her lack of research and fake excitement by saying "Something tells me it will do all these things once it makes it out"

Nawal has a new music video she has been talking about but she has yet to release it. To see the exchange happens after minute (5:00)  I do not mean to pick on Razan, but she should stop trying to fake everything in her life. Nawal showered the judges with love and genuine love. The video editors seem to have cut that exchange. Hilmi Baker has gave his seal of approval to Nawal.

The social media loved this exchange and called out Razan Al Moghrabi for her uninformed comments and lack of tact. Others took issue with Razan Al Moghrab trying to speak as an Egyptian  Her Egyptian Arabic is laughable yet she insists to speak in it. She does kind yap a lot and make little sense which is not a good way if you want to make enemies.

Kadem Al Saher Is The Third River Of Iraq

Arabs like to make up their own dictators. Why does the song of a celebrated Iraqi singer deserve special attention that any other contestant. The question, I pose to the Voice on MBC. Qusay Hatem is the song of Hatem Al Iraqi, the legendary composer and singer.

The guy have a good voice, and picked a great song of his dad's to perform it on the show. Most judges loves him in seconds, it took Kadem few minutes to join the cheer-leading squad. But it turn out Qusay has picked Saber El Robaei over Kadem Al Saher--who strives to book all the Iraqi talents on the show.

Some were unhappy with Qusay's decision  but if perhaps knowing that his own father and Saber have a number of musical projects helps explain the decision  It has also been said that young Qusay wanted to give Iraq another chance by joining another team. Qusai is a very young person, I would have say 17 years old maybe.

I am certain, Kadem is a legend and he does not need anybody to tell him that, Qusay is talented and the Arab world knows that. He brings some joy into the lives of many Iraqis. I am certain his dad is a great mentor for the young man. His take on the Iraqi Mawal  is refreshing. The song about immigration and leaving the motherland is a soft spot for most Iraqis.
