This April 26, One Iraqi Hit-Maker محمد السالم - قلب قلب In A Virginia Concert

He will be accompanied by the Iraqi pop band UTN1 (Unknown To No One) This is the one concert that will bring all the 50 shades of Iraqis and appreciators of the rich Iraqi music scene  living in the Mid-Atlantic region for a fun night of music that the autnicity of the land it draws its inspirations form. This is a popular hit song that took Iraqi by storm "Qalib Qalib" by the lovable Mohammad ElSalem who has toured the world with this song and other Iraqi songs.

He is a hot commodity and this time, the music will be upped as the Iraqi rock band will be to his side warming up the crowd and doing what the love doing best, live music that brings home to those who long for it. The band walks onstage and look like your there to play through your songs and to have a good time as well. They tend to do their rituals and let the audience let you know you're there.

The interesting thing about the band is that they play through each song until you know whats happening each second. They have mastered each song by playing them off by heart and concentrate on what everyone else is playing. Thus, the band members are a good live musician is one that can feel the pulse of the crowd and become fueled by their energy. It takes more than practice practice practice to be a good musician. Some things can't be taught. UTN1 Band-mates were born with the chops for those live gigs.

As for AlSalem, he is the kind of entertainer who talks to the crowd and allows them to be apart of the show. He knows how to just relax and have fun. He is not a a show-off, but he knows that he is the attraction and the audience appreciate that.

Is This Dude Wearing A Pajama At His Own Concert

When your lead singer is wearing a cap and a full casual look, why not wear a pajama. Or at least that's what I think the gifted and hard working Turkish Clarinet player Hüsnü Şenlendirici is wearing on stage. Seriously, what's he wearing?

Maybe this is some rehearsal, but it's on film the Saber El Rebai is kicking it with the band who seem to be hanging loose. I know both Arabs and Turkish people are keen on looking their best, but this clip confuses me.

I have seen similar pants at the Target sales bin on Black Friday. I have no idea where this was filmed  but I think it might have been somewhere in Europe. As for Hüsnü Şenlendirici he has been doing a number of concerts in Egypt where he is a celebrated figure. He has collaborated this year with Ghada Ragib on her most recent dazzling album.

Iraqi Folklore (فولكلور عراقي ) Gets Serious With Shatha Hassoun

We always seek advise from older people, thus making assumptions that they must know better. It makes us feel better when recount our trouble to someone who at least looks wiser. Many folklore songs do just that, a singer tells what's troubling him to a mother, an uncle, a grandpa, but almost never a father notice.

Checkout Shatha Hassoun a young women from Iraq/Morocco performs an old Iraqi song in one of his concerts. Her vocals are the only thing that matter, but also her stage presence is the one most people would not miss. She sounds very mature as this sobering song requires a certain level of zen and calm to do it justice.

I love those intimate concert formats, but the number of the backup singers tells me this is a serious performance. I love the live orchestra with men wearing their traditional dresses. There' no playback and lip syncing here.

Colorful Egyptian Star Sandy At A Cairo Parks

Sandy Color Festival At Al Oroba Parks Cairo — with Housam Badran, Islam Mostafa and Sandy Singer at El Oroba Park. This is a festival that goes on every year and Sandy is a repeat offender, she is demanded by the concert goers who like a little bit of candy with their music.

She really knows how to work up an audience, little girls and grownup men line up to hear and see her perform her act. If you ever doubted the size of her stardom  then look again, see the size of this audience who risk much to be in attendance.

Aside from this huge engagement, Sandy has been celebrating with Yahoo their 18th birthday. Other than the chaotic stage and too many important young people, the concert was HOT

Listen: Egyptian Diva Changes Her Dialect جديد - اغنية شرين - الليلة رمادى | 2013

Pop diva Sherine agreed to take part of one of the biggest intimate parties in the Gulf--Jalasat style. In the Khalij, folks like to sit down when they listen to their music, and so is the artists. Everyone is sitting surrounded by musicians and spectators. They sing in local dialects, and it seems like one of those formal/informal sittings.

Most artists who do these kind of concert formats are often well-paid and tend to be local artists. More and more Morocco artists are getting into the business. But the surprise was Egyptian performer Sherine who has never sang in any other dialect other than her own. So, she appeared to be having fun on the set of Jalasat, and I tell you, she has gotten the right words and pronunciation down. And the new song we heard is about the grey night--not to be confused with 50 shades of grey.

While, I do not love her new look and her hairstyle, she made quite the impression on viewers as she dazzled them with her very strong voice. The folks in the Gulf think the world of big Arab names who sing to them in their own dialect. This appearance will open Pandora's box on Sherine who will certainly be called for concerts and weddings in the affluent region.

Valentine Day Concerts And Arabs Who Obsess About It

Jordanians, Iraqis, Syrians, Egyptians and folks from the Gulf shelled top dollars for Valentine day concerts in Beirut. Of course not every Arab singer can have a concert, only those voices that have done love songs. Among those names is Ayman Zabib, the Lebanese charmer who knows how to party and take the party to those who are too serious.

He had a great year last year, and it seems he is working his way back into the market with this concert. I am starting to think Valentine day concerts are a bigger deal in Arabia, more so than the rest of the world. For people who have a reputation for being hateful and teaching their kids to hate, Arabs are a sure lovers on this day.

Just look at the video from the concert, people just want to love and be loved and not just on this day. Ayman laughed his way to the bank. He works hard for his money, and his Lebanese dance and romance is on high demand. As for the ladies Myriam Fares took her dance moves and her pop songs to a mega concert--the room was packed with overweight dudes and less than attractive women.

She is a treat, and she seems to do fine when she is singing, not when giving speeches. She dresses for the occasion and brings out her inner dancer during her songs. Her concert goers get two for the price of one a music performance and a dance show.

WATCH: Samo Zaen's Dark Valentine Song - Hat3raf / سامو زين - هتعرف

I do not hate Valentine Day, but I do hate Valentine Day lame romance songs. On this day everyone tries to bring out the best romantic version of themselves. Sometimes you really do not have it and you need to know that. Otherwise, we will suffer as a result of your lack of knowledge about your skill.

Samo Zaen kept talking about this song for more than a year, and now it comes out. This is not a love song, this is a depression inducing song. He is a fun guy whose fans make him feel like a million dollar. Egy[t hears him and so do the boys and gals there. While he had many good romantic songs in the past,  "Hat'eraf" his latest track is not one of them.

It's a slow song, perfect to dance your last couple dance right before you both go your separate ways. This is not a Valentine day, it's way too dark....I am guessing this is Samo Zaen's anti-Valentine day song.

P.S. Doesn't the new picture for Samo, make him look a little bit like Lebanese Waleed Tawfeek?

Video: Samo Zaen Is A Pimp For His Cairo Concert

Samo Zain thinks he is some kind of a pimp, or a modem day Sultan with veiled babes surrounding him on his throne. He got away with that for a music video that we all loved, but for a concert, not sure if this prop does anything good.

Opening his famous hit ''Red Roses" with a chair and babes before he kick off the party and the ladies go into hiding. He wore a red man dress and sounds in love with himself and his image. This was part of a Cairo concert with thousands of fans with awesome cameras as you can see. I am all for new things and trying to change things up.

To be fair, this is a catchy song, and it has all the right elements of a great dance song but Samo Zain is not rock star. He needs to perfect his on stage mannerism no goofy stuff and acting like a pimp who cannot really dance to save his life. And what's with the shirtless hulk bodyguards onstage?

Video: Syrian Rouwaida Attieh Sydney Concert

The Syrian and Lebanese expats who call the Island of Australia home, won't let the music stop. This is why in the Australian capital Sydney, they had a sold out concert with one of the hottest young A lister entertainers in Syria, Rouwaida Attieh. She is one of the most authentic and realize throwback to all things classical in party songs written in the Bedouin dialect.

She is fresh from a divorce, and a hot new single once again. She hit the road with her new and old songs to cheer up folks who appreciate her style. Her strong and almost manly voice can move monuments. Her stage persona glows and brings people to her.

She is truly the life of the party, and people see that. Not sure if this was a wedding or a concert, but either case Rouwaida Attieh owned the night. Syria might not be in the perfect mood right now, but voices like Rouwaida tell us at least they are alive.

Video: The Muslim Brotherhood Sponsors A Sexy Concert

The Muslim Brotherhood sponsored an event where a popular Lebanese pop star who hired to make an appearance and sing. The internet went crazy when they got an image of the Islamic party's logo and Dolly Shahine dressed ready for a party and performing. The concert took place in the Red Sea District, photos from the concerts have caused an internet uproar among activists.

Here's what I make out of this:
  1. The Islamic party is trying to increase its profile and getting involved in more mainstream events.
  2. They are a co-sponsor, that does not mean they control the agenda or the performers booked.
  3. This might be embarrassing for the officer in the Islamic party who decided to co- sponsor this event.
This does not mean the Islamic party is trying to be cool, it also does not mean they is a scandal, just an embarrassing arrangement. Plus, the people at the concert are Egyptians  voters not some foreigners. As for the artists, they just wanted a paycheck, chances are they had no idea who is sponsoring the event.

The Islamic party issues a statement where they have confirmed their role in supporting tourim in Egypt, this concert was part of promotional effort to attract Russian tourists.

Video: The Boy Who Cried Lebanon طفل المعجزة جورج زغيب يُغني وجعك يا وطني

In a posh Lebanese restaurant where a night of classy music was promised, more than that was delivered  The boy wonder of Lebanon the kid who can rock generations with his covers of old classics took the spotlight by storm when he performed for the first time his new single. The name is George Zgheib and he means business. His young voice can shock you as his voice is so deep it might confuse some doctors.

The single is for Lebanon and its pains it sees at the moment. The song is about the motherland, teaching the kids to love it and it comes with a strong beat. The attendance loved the song and the performance by George Zgheib who will be recording this song in a studio soon and possible music video will come. The guy plays the oud (lute) so well. And one thing he does with his voice tells him he has what it takes, he makes his voice dance from one note to another note. Manipulating the artists voice takes a lot of training.

I wish George and his team well, they see a real talent and they work with him to evolve and take his act to a bigger audience.

Amr Diab Picks The Next Amr Diab (Wafae Chikki/Mohannad Zohair)

The fresh idea of a star picking the young talents who can best perform his own songs is pretty awesome. Through his radio and social media outlets two voices have been picked by the votes of Arabs based on their performance of a beloved Amr Diab song.

Amr Diab has picked five voices, the ones you see in the video below. And then the audience had more than a month to vote them in. This plan generated so much buzz online and offline, it was one of those creative ideas that has win-win written all over it.

Amr Diab Academy - The 5 Finalists الفائزون بالمرحلة الثالثة

The votes came in, and the first winner is Moroccan native and German resident Wafae Chikki who did a fine job covering one of Amr Diab's most romantic songs. I think Wafae tells me you can never be too young  to enjoy the modern classics. Amr speaks to you, and the language does not matter.

Amr Diab Academy We Malo Wafae Chikki

The other winner is the song of Egypt Mohannad Zohair who owned the song and reminded us of many emotional songs Amr Diab has given us. Mohand did give it his best shot, but now he is in the spotlight and he is form the motherland, so he has to shine.

Amr Diab - Medley | Mohanad Zohair - ميدلي | مهند زهير

Those are two great voices, and I hope to hear more of their own original songs. The award cemony was held in the Four Season Cairo. Mohannad and Wafae are set to appear next to Amr Diab in his next big concert. This is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Needless to say this is a smart business idea to drum up support for Amr Diab's social media presence. Where his academy received about 1000 submissions and more than 100 thousand people have sent in their votes. I am sure other stars are now thinking to copy Amr Diab and do their own competition. Either way this is a good way for internet hooked young people to stand out.

Adel Ogla In Virginia Concert With @UTN1_Band

Iraqis like to party and one of the voices that gets them to put on their game on face and swing is Adel Ogla, the man of the blues infused with Iraqi dance music. The Iraqi star is holding a mega concert with the band UTN1 on the second of February in Alexandria Virginia.

The well traveled Iraqi artists who is on demand for concerts thrown by Iraqis living away form home. Ogla and UTN1 will give the people a taste of home. I know they will also perform other pop favorites to bring a percent nights to their concert goers. I like how they bring Iraqi families in droves to attend their concerts. I resepct that, this is not an evening for testosterone filled young men doing goofy things.

Aside from the great music, the cheerfdul company, I am sold for the buffet and the atmosphere.

Pictures: Layal Aboud New Year Concert

The Rotana signed Lebanese songstress had two concerts this new year, and both were in Beirut. The first was in a hotel and the second was in a posh restaurant. Here are the pictures of her New Year concert and the people who like the songstress.

She wore two different outfits and the outfits seem to have attracted some attention the wanted kind. Layal Aboud pays close attention to her style as well as her voice--you kind of have to. People who attended her concerts spoke volumes of her good manners. She took plenty of pictures and singe autographs  but she also fired up the concert goers and brought them to the dance floor.

Layal performed a collection of her most known songs like "Ya Ana Ya Ana". Layal had also released a song for kids, or at least the music video had lots of kids in it.

Videos Of New Year 2013 Concerts In Beirut

The winner of the Voice, Mourad Bourky had his first concert and he was the fireworks of the night, he performed next to Assi Hallani. Together they appeared in Lebanon.

The new year is the biggest night for people who like music and enjoy drinking. Ragheb Alama also had his concert that night--most stars have more than one engagement on this night. Ragheb danced with the ladies on the stage. Happy New Year to all those people out there, I know  was optimistic for 2012, but I do not feel the same way about 2013....last year we had the least number of albums released.

Dubai and Beirut had the most fun, not so much in Cairo, though there have been few concerts here and there on a small scale and little publicity. I know each one of those artists wished for a better new year speaking of politics and change. Those are videos shot from the audience vantage point and they are not the best quality.

Mirhan Hussein Promotes Sexual Harassment In Egypt

Men are pigs, let's get that out of the way. they will harass any female, her clothes do not matter, so there you have it. It's wrong to harass anybody, and it's creepy and dangerous when men try to harass and intimidate women in the streets of Egypt. Verbal harassment is also wrong, not only physical harassment. What some guys think is harmless fun is actually a creepy, immoral and sometimes illegal act.

Now, women also have a role to play, which is not becoming part of an act that promotes sexual harassment and hostility. The video below makes such hideous and unwanted acts look cool. This is why I take issue with one Egyptian songstress and young talent Mirhan Hussein. In the video below see alpha and beta males try to capture her attention.

Mirhan shot to fame for participating in the Star Academy show fifth season. She qualified with her singing, and acting. Then she met Tamer Hosny in his lowest point  he used her as a model for one of his music videos, concerns and she also starred in his move Omar and Salma sequel. She has taken part of a number of TV dramas and projects so she is a celebrity with a career.

I do not think this is the right way to do pop, Egypt has a problem with harassment on the streets and in other places, last thing they need is a music video with a female that seems to endorse the practice. Again Mirhan is not the only one at fault. Tamer Hosny has now realizee what he has been promoting in his music.

Morocco's Most Famous Song الأنشودة المغربية ( الله يا مولانا )

Traditions matter in the land of Morocco, the people are faithful, yet they tend to be more progressive than a lot of Muslims. In a land where history has a price tag, it matters if you are well versed in the rich history of that land. This is the main reason, why Arab singers insist on doing Moroccan songs. It';s a good way to get on the radar of people who organize music festivals.

The Moroccan listener is hard to please, and one cannot fake it...you have to sing your heart out. The most famous Moroccan song is known as Allah Ya Molana, "God is our Sheppard" While the people of that land come to enjoy music from all over the map, they like to know they are special. So any star who is not Moroccan and makes a song in that dialect and style, they embrace him/her.

It pays to already speak that hard to crack dialect. Shada Hassoun had it easy, she is Moroccan from one side., Iraqi from another.
