What's with Khaled Selim, the once beloved pop star and cars? I have no idea. Dudes and bros like sweet rides and talk about them like they would talk about gorgeous women. I have never been obsessed with cars, but I know many how do. So, Saudis who have been seeing a surge in death due to a number of racing accidents, are about to get a new racing show.

The show will air on MBC Action and I am seeing a Lebanese racer in an energy drink car ready to do some stunts. I think it's irresponsible to do these shows when last week few young Saudi died in a car racing accident. Driven is the name of the show and Khalid will help bring in new viewers to this new show. This show is on its third season now and more to come.

There has been many stars on this show before, and simply put you cannot stop young people form doing crazy stunts that might lead to their death.

Tamer Hosny might be doing American pop a huge favor, he is stimulating the economy by his big spending as he pays top names to collaborate with him. The latest star to charge Tamer Hosny a fee is American rapper Akon (by the way of Senegal) Tamer went to Akon's home and studio and we have the footage from the behind the scenes.

I think there is a new Tamer is town and he means serious business. I do not think he will ever become a global icon, not for his lack of trying, but he is already big in the Arab world. He has already singed with top companies who want to sell their stuff to Arabs. So his new duet with Akon might not do that much, other than adding to his resume.

I like Akon and think he is a smart business guy. Watch the two work together on the song as Akon tries to pick few words and they are working on a music video too. There are simply too many douche bags in this video who think they are all that  important.

I think this would be a fun project, I would ask Tamer, take it easy, save your money and go back to Nasr Mahrous--he knows how to bring the best in you and how to put you in a hit.

Two of the three big divas in Egypt (the third one is Angham) have just released samples or teasers promos for their upcoming songs--those songs will be released in their soon to be released albums or might make it as singles based on the market watch.

Amal Maher has found a golden song allowing her to show how much in love a person can be, and the other lady is Sherine and she is beautifully showing how much hurt one person can take in a relationship.

Really good songs and I love how those songs or the few seconds one hears are on the mark....they are just right! Amal had a great album two years ago and she did well in concerts Sherine is moving into the darker territory in the wake of her divorce.  Either way, those are two big hits from two ladies who are never short on hit-making.

He might be one of the Khalij--Gulf my all time favorite stars. He is a rock star in my book, and he almost never ever speaks to the press. He is the voice most people of Saudi Arabia--even those who do listen to music love him.

Simply put he is Rashed Al Majid, the voice that won us over when he wanted to do pop music a decade ago. But now he gives us something else, romantic songs are his shtick. He is also the richest star, and has a while fleet of the fanciest cars.

Now, let's check out his new promo for the album that I will be listening to for ages, We have 22 sample of the promo. While he does have his own production company, he is happy to let them work with other lables to bring his music to more places.

I have come to appreciate the poetry of his words, his upbeat music and most of all the wise language he uses. He sounds like a gentleman making music for other sophisticated people. He is almost never mad, just either giddy or jaded.

Tattoos, Beef Cakes And New Singer Zayne

The problem with having a common name in Arabic (or any other) music, is that there are so many of them out there. If we have a last name, things would get easier. This is what I had to go through to search the artists with the name Zayne in the clip below. There are half a dozen artists with that name.

This guy spends a great deal of him time at the local gym where he likes to press the bench...now he also wants to sing. And for that we must bear with him as he gives us a tour of all the cool places mapped in ink on his bud.

this silly season indeed. the promo almost makes fun of itself. Maybe I am wrong maybe all those kids who watch American shows are up to something. This could also be an ad spot for a gym where UFC fighters get tough. I like creative material and this can go either way, so till we see the music video, we are out of luck

And the first teaser from her upcoming album keeps me guessing  how awesome this upcoming album from Lebanese songstress Carole Samah be? The options are limitless, this is a woman that likes her work. She is very educated about her craft and shops the world for good music and fine styles to adapt into her work.

The soon to be released album is promising to be something that good, I have always been a fan of her work, and her style. She is one of this voices that can sing, yet she does not act like a diva the world owes her something--she perfects her music and keeps her fans and foes interested in her next move. Like her musical which will be playing soon near you--she will dazzle in this big production--The Lady.

In the mean time, her teaser for the upcoming song about missing the motherland, being with loved ones, and the music belongs to the old school style-she sounds coming from her time machine where she went snagged this song and brought it back to the future. The topic is dear to far too many of us, a love story cross borders..the kind the brings home every time. The Rotana people will be busy for some time playing her upcoming music and music videos.

Egyptian King of pop Mostafa Amar has found good in his most recent album. The guy who usually sings dance and romance songs--he also acts went on a quest to find God in all things, so he came back with a nine track album which was released today.

While Amar has done religious songs in the past--timed for Ramadan, this one comes at a slow season where we are not even close to Ramadan. But all times are good times to release such work. He may have been inspired to release it for his kids as he is a family guy. Often times religious albums help preserve an artist legacy.

The thinking comes, if the artist has passed away, such songs will stick around long after he has gone and those are good deeds. I like that line of thinking. I am looking at the titles and those are are straightforward songs, some fresh titles. Some new songs and others are covers. Mazzika , the label which produces Amar's albums has put together this album as well. At those dark times in Egypt, it's so easy to find faith or lose it.

Those do not have to be long songs, I like what I have heard in the promo, Amar delivers some of his finest performances in really long time.

Other pop songstress are hiding now as Nawal El Zoghbi, the original "it" girl is teasing us all with a new song that has awesome and dazzling written all over it. The palace we see is either a visual feast or a real blow them away Moroccan place. The drums began to beat for this music video a long time ago, Nawal has been promising her fans something amazing! And she did not joke around this time.

We do not get to have a full shot of Nawal, but the sneak peak promises many great things, and yes there is a crown to tell the other pop ladies "suck it" mama bear is back, you better go into hiding. It's true Nawal is a huge name and has manged to do the virtually impossible, do pop songs where the image is 90 percent of the show.

Yes, she did have the low moments, but with this clip, she seems to be ready for prime time once again. And to help her the versatile Jad Shewry directs the upcoming music video for "Gharibi Hal Denyi". I am certain Nawal is telling her ex to go screw himself when he sees her makeover and her high points from the upcoming song, he said she will fade away without him--he is the only one to go away.

The well known Lebanese dance choreographer Charle Mchris has his fingerprints all over this. The song is to air next week on Lebanese and Arab radio stations. This is a gigantic production, worthy of Nawal's star size. I like it

Kuwaits On Airplane By Faisal Al Rashid

The young Kuwaiti singer Faisal Al Rashid is releasing a new album, which he titled Tayara or "Airplane" The album will be distributed by Platinum Records, and they are sharing the promo with their bigger audience.  This is a mixed album Gulf music centered for sure. He works with young local talents and together they produce music with a broad local appeal.

I do not follow the young artist and I have not come across many of his songs before or music video, but I hope he enjoys a fan base. He sounds entertaining as his loyalty to the southern Gulf folklore music is hard to overlook. He transitions form romance to classical in a heartbeat. Faisal is a composer by profession who has chosen to sing. Among his repeat customers Ahlam and Rashid Al Majid. Like most regional singers, this Kuwaiti singer works from Dubai.

WATCH: The X Factor Arabia Judges Promo 2013 اكس فاكتور ٢٠١٣,

The British are coming to invade the Arab world once more time, this time they are doing it through shows like the X Factor. Yes, I know this is the hundredth singing competition program, but it seems they have truly scored some of the biggest names in Arabia pop to judge the show.

Three Lebanese (Wael Kfoury, Elissa and Carol Samahe), and one hit maker form the United Arab Emirates Hussein Al Jassmi. The panel of four judges will be providing their skills, personalities and celebrity status to bring rating to the program, which will air on Lebanese network MTV.

Such shows are advertiser's wet dream, Pepsi seems to have a lot of control over the X Factor and its various editions around the globe. I am sure people will watch this show for few reasons I can think of. For starter, those are all hot names and active in making pop music. Second. those names do not particularly give many interviews, so people are hungry to get a peak at those celebrities when they are being themselves.

The first episode will air on February 8th, and the promos are already dazzling us with what to come.

Elissa is back folks, and she has a new boy toy for her 2013 music video, the big splash. This is her first music video in four years and she is reuniting with Salim Turk, the talented music video director she has worked with in the past.

You do not see much, just a couple chasing one another in front of a green screen and then a posh club dancing. I feel, Elissa has nothing new to offer in her music video, granted, this is a good song. She is a hit-maker who knows how to pick a winner romance is her thing. Though her 2012 album has a big dose of the dark blues.

It's hard to judge the music video by the 22 seconds we get to see, but I think Elissa looks great in the club scene  the makeup and lighting are just right. Her fashion is also back with a chic dress, gorgeous one and more flashy outfit. She is bringing sexy back with the Canadian model who visited Lebanon for the first time and got to see all the touristy spots.

WATCH: The Trailer For "The Party" Movie

This is the slow season, but the first film trailer for 2013 belongs to the new movie "The Party" a mystery movie about business and the abduction of wealth Egyptian people for ransom. The lead are as follows Ahmed Eizz, Ruby and Mohamed Raggab. All worthy names and safe box office darlings.

Ahmed Eizz is the golden boy, Ruby the singer turned actress and has taken part of a number of celebrated films. I imagine Ahmed Raggab is the comic relief  though he has done some action films in the past. The movie is about the high rollers, women and wealth. There will be violence.

The trailer does not tell much  it really adds to the mystery. I like the real looking news clips about chaos and absense of law and order in today's Egypt. The movie blends real stories with fictitious ones. I am sensing it's about the abduction of a wealthy man's wife who is also caught in a love triangle.

Mashael is a Saudi pop princess who makes sure to tell people she has Lebanese heritage. Saudis do not like their women singing in public and anytime you meet on of their female musicians  some Saudi will tell you, she is not really a Saudi.

This time they are right, as Mashael is a cool chick that makes romance and pop songs that few dare to make. I like her often bold music videos made to poetic lyrical songs which she performs with hear and soul. Her next music video has been filmed a month ago, and now the promo is out, the video will release for the Eid celebration.

The plot for the music video is strange, a girl likes boy, she goes into his place snoops around and figure out what he is like--he is not home. Then he comes home trips over the stuff his soon to be lover. He break his leg. She has been watching his every move. Now, if a guy does that he might have to go to jail, but if a girl does it, it's romantic.

Video: Arab Idol Season Two Returns With Fireworks

If you are Arab, young, unemployed and have crazy dreams--you must be good looking too, there's hope for you. Join Arab Idol, they may pick you to appear on the show. First they will for to Cairo for auditions  then to Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Dubai ending in Lebanon.

The show is the second season for Arab Idol, and the net is already abuzz about this talent scouting show. To promote the season, the producers hired Carmin Soliman to shoot a promotional video as she is the first season winner and now she is working on an album. Carmin did very well and has manged to win big with MBC and festivals who have come to love her style and her bubbly childish personality.

She is looking all grown up and looking might fine walking down the rest carpet.

Egyptian Suspense Flicks! Trailer Midnight Party Movie - تريلر فيلم حفلة منتصف الليل

Suspense or thrill movies are often a fun escape, I am one of those countless people who like to set on the edge of their seat waiting to find out how a movie ends. If the director did a good job, we will be in for a surprise and twisted end. Egypt has not really tried to make any good movies in this genre.

They have tried few times, and few movies were worthy of being celebrated. The script is always key, but also the acting, the music and the details are important. I am seeing a movie that might be pulling a stunning story....Midnight Party.

The timing is hardly ideal, the film will screen this holiday season around Egypt. Such films cannot really compete with silly comedies  so they settle to opt out of competition. The film has been ready for more than a year, but the release has been pushed back due to the turn of events in Egypt.

A movie as the trailer and the name suggest about a midnight party, some twists, action and drama. There seems to be a solid cast with many A and B list names helping advance the story without making it about themselves. I look forward to seeing more of this film, I know Egypt and Arab countries are hungry for such good stories.

The music event of the decade is here, after months of delays and limitless amount of press coverage and promos, the teaser has arrived. Maya Diab is back and her music video is releasing in the anniversary of Yehya Saade, the music video director who died on set as he was making a music video for Maya. This is mean to be the motherload, the epic picture of 2012.

The director for this mega music video is Said El Marouk who seems not to do small projects anymore.  The promo feels like an offshoot of the popular franchise Resident Evil. The film was filmed in Beirut for three days, and the editing has taken months now. It will run to seven minutes. Maya had a great year and her career has taken off turning her into a full blown celebrity who has dozens of business ventures.

No denying, there are stunning affects and amazing shots put together to bring this blockbuster of a music video worthy of a diva that has pushed self-promotion into new territories. Salim Assaf wrote the lyrics, and the music. The music video was reported to have cost around 500 thousand dollars. You can buy a lot with such cash.

Really? Am I wrong to point that out? Why is the pop diva circulating a picture of herself holding her breasts on camera? Is this what divorced people do now? Are those boobs even real? I have also ways said that Haifa Wehbe is a smart entertainer who has a big heart. But she is also a shameless self-promoter. Even when she was going through a divorce, she fled to New York City to shoot a music video.

She has always gone for sexy and revealing when she could, but this is a new low even for Haifa. I am sure some women are now talking about her being old and divorces  so she is showing them her assets now and the boys are winning this. Keep on mind Haifa Wehbe has made music videos for kids and and an entire album for the little ones. Not sure how her breasts connect withe the innocent among us.

I like new projects that have little funding, loads of challenges and a hope for a better future. Young people like challenges, and this feels like one with divined.
