Cats, dogs, holidays, soccer, little siblings,, birthday party and the Eid. Are all the common theme of a new pop album meant for kids bought by their parents. The artist behind this album is Magid Al Qasem, the Syrian composer-cum singer.

He recorded his album with the help of his kids whose voices are part of the album. The album comes after years of work and delays. The artist got sick of the too many delays and let his album get a release date. He worried the music will be dated if the album does not get launched soon enough.

On other news, the artist thought the children of Arabia could use such an album at those dark times. I only hope the album is well-made. Cheap work does not hang around for long. This album has been recorded in Egyptian studios where Maged works and lives. He is trying to make a go of his career with the help of the little ones. As you can see there's a lot of green room affects, and little kids just standing in there.

Al Qasim is hardly the first pop star to do an album for children, but he is the first to do so this year. I wish the album and the artist well.

Lebanese Pop Breakout Star Natasha Needs To Focus

Yo, Natasha.....you are a rock star. Just find your voice and your proper style and stick to it. I have been a dedicated fan since you released your first album more than four years ago, when you were a little girl that sang like a full-blown diva. Now, you are all over the map, doing Gulf songs for those who pay, and then flaying to Egypt for duets and interviews.

The Khaliji singing never gives artists a legacy, it does offer a big payday, in exchange for selling your soul. Egypt should be the place you launch your career from. Lebanon is too crowded and they might miss a good thing like you--even if it hit them in the face. You have been blessed with an awesome family that understands music, now, it's your turn to sing form the gut.

Your latest single, got picked by those who understand such heavy and senseless lyrics. Go back to catchy melodies , cute girly songs. You are a natural at those. Plus, you have a great voice for longer and more serious songs, you have shown that already. I think doing one good pop song that goes mainstream and hits-it big is much better than doing random songs here and there. you just chase those songs, they won't seek you--the almost never do.  

Do not worry about releasing an album, it's too much work, too much money and so little reward. just find yourself one good hit, live it and then bring it out. If it was genuine people will cheer you on.

It's Raining Cats And Dogs For Egyptian Kids الكات والدوج - مجد القاسم ·

Magd AlKasem is a Syrian singer who was a big deal 17 years ago. He is still out there based in Egypt hoping to score a big hit, so far he has not. But his music career where he composed songs is doing fine. He has not said anything about Syria, which is something smart.

It seems he is now trying to make music for kids--he has few of his own. So he made a song about cats and dogs where his kids also star in the music video on his side. The song has dogs, cats and a monkey  This is a low budget song with a cheap music video.

Toward the end of the song, the two siblings talk about how much they love soccer--sure the boy likes one team and the girl likes another. Both are fans of Al Ahly and Al Zamalik, and they fight each time there is a game. Majid tries to mediate. I like the concept and I am sure the little oens will enjoy the cat and dog one

This is cute, a kid from Jordan likes this song on TV very much and now the entire population of the internet is finding out about his secret and private moment when he goofed off to his favorite kiddie song along with his cute little sister.

To be fair, the boy stole the show with his unique blend of dance movies and yes some air guitar moves as well. Kids have always tried to play along their TV set, but this guy took it to the next level with all the animal and party noises he makes. He even incorporated some local folkloric and rap dance moves I do not know where he came up with them. Did he just try to do the moon walk too?

boys just want to have fun, and this guy should be singed up to promote something  he is a hero and celebrity around the Arab world

Breakdancing Like Six-year-old Girl In France

A 6-year-old break dance prodigy named "B-girl Terra" is putting all adult dancers to shame in a new video posted to YouTube.

The girl, identified as “Bgirl Terra,” was filmed competing in the “Baby Battle” division of theChelles Battle Pro tournament in Paris against an unidentified older boy. The footage of their battle has already drawn more than 250,000 views in just two days.

Last weekend, the miniature competitor took part in the Chelles Battle Procompetition in Paris, blowing away the rest of the contestants with her unbelievable windmills and headspins. Though she didn't walk away with the final prize in the Baby Battle. Her tiny track suit and killer moves have certainly won the hearts of everyone who's watched her since then.

1. Natasha, Lebanese a combination between Nancy Ajram and Warda! She is young, talented and under 20 years of age. Her father is a musician by training and her brother runs the business side. I love her many characters she is able to produce. She can be pop and fun, but when needed she can be classy and deliver heavy doze of mellow pure Arabic hits with the oldie flavor. She has two albums, but I think Rotana is not helping her career. Video
2. Carmin Solimna, Egyptian who finished high school this year, she shot to fame by winning the Arab Idol contest. She comes from a loving family and has yet to release one single original song. But the tracks she has left behind cover the classics. She has an astonishing voice that can move water and breaks glasses. She can convey complex emotions with few vocal notes. With Carmin the sky is the limit. She is a free agent, but she is often contracted for nights of music in big galas and cultural events. Video  
3. George Zogheb, the youngest on the list. He is a preteen, but his music is not for the young ones, but rather who those who have lived in the 60s and 70s. He also loves Lebanon and his first original song is made for the motherland. He appears in concerts around Lebanon and slowly but surely he is making a big splash every where he goes. Remmeber the girl that sang the famous Oum Kalthoum tribute songs in the late nineties? She was the teen who shaked the music market at that time and made her name by paying homage to other legends. She added her own flavor and touch on those timeless classics.

That's the story of Egyptian Shima El Shaib. But then she disappeared from the music radar. She was 15 years old and her mom is a an Egyptian legend Fatmah Eid, the one who has so many folksy hits. Shima was a fixture of the Egyptian music scene since she was seven years old. She is an award winning before she became an adult. She did release a solo original album "Ana Taibah" it wasn't the big hit her fans expected form her. The music production was not done right, but overall the album was satisfactory. She took a break until she finished her studies. 

However, she is back with Wael Jassar in 2013 with this romantic duet. Her nostalgic fans have been through a lot, but they are ready to take her new song for a test drive. It's a sweet song delivered with such a delicate style, both artists sound very compatible and like the best of friends. Shima has a good voice, but now she needs to develop something to call her own as her voice naturally changed with growth. Wael, was a star since he was a kid, so he knows what it takes.

In a posh Lebanese restaurant where a night of classy music was promised, more than that was delivered  The boy wonder of Lebanon the kid who can rock generations with his covers of old classics took the spotlight by storm when he performed for the first time his new single. The name is George Zgheib and he means business. His young voice can shock you as his voice is so deep it might confuse some doctors.

The single is for Lebanon and its pains it sees at the moment. The song is about the motherland, teaching the kids to love it and it comes with a strong beat. The attendance loved the song and the performance by George Zgheib who will be recording this song in a studio soon and possible music video will come. The guy plays the oud (lute) so well. And one thing he does with his voice tells him he has what it takes, he makes his voice dance from one note to another note. Manipulating the artists voice takes a lot of training.

I wish George and his team well, they see a real talent and they work with him to evolve and take his act to a bigger audience.

I am glad to report I was introduced to this dance track by my two year old nephew Omar, he is a nice boy who likes to dance to Arabic songs, and so far his favorite dance song is "Dag Al Mani", a new old Syrian dance style that has been moving Arabia.

Omar grabs his grandpa's cane and starts swinging when he hears the song and yes he moves his feet as he moves his hands in the air. All the adults off course are loving this track too. But kids are the best judges of a good dance track and whoever does a cover of this summer of 2012 old school dance song wins the listeners over.

This song is like water to everything alive, it's electricity to the house, and it's the blaze that will set the dance floor on fire. Who need an enrgey drink when you can swing to this song? I know this one brings the family together and makes life better for its duration.

The extremely talented wonder boy of Lebanese and Arabic music has a sold out new year concert, where hundreds turned out for his event to show support for their country youngest singing sensation. George Zogaib's parents must be so proud of him. The Lebanese flag flies high, and George's song always call for the colors of the flag to be the only colors in Lebanon.

Now comes the music video for his first original song, a song he dedicated for Lebanon and the pains one sees there. A song about agony of that gorgeous yet troubled land. the young boy walks around Lebanon expressing amusement in its natural beauty yet channels frustrations with the politicians.

This song is about history and ancestor. The child pleas for getting along, unity among Muslims and Christians  or he would have to immigrate. It's a manly song by a young voice with a very strong and masculine voice worthy of those famous Lebanese hills. You cannot help but be proud of this young entertainer. I have enjoyed the tour of those famous all-Lebanese sites.

Wonder Kid Drives Lebanon Insane الطفل المعجزة جورج زغيب

 All of a sudden there is a little boy making the news in Lebanon, he has appeared in more musical festivals that many stars who have been in the business for years. His name is George Zoghib, he is a child who can sing and he looks like a cuddly bear.

Not sure what grade he is in at school, but when it comes to music, this guy is a graduate. Not only does George sing, but he also plays music too. The summer of 2012 was certainly his debut as he has toured the country entertaining thousands of people with his cover of old classical songs from Egypt and Lebanon.

Then, all the media programs wanted to talk to him and he did not disappoint. He was classy and carries his own water. Now he is working on a new national song for Lebanon, and the folks are talking about this guy who will be around for at least 40 years form now.

Ellie Saba has taken him under his wings and is recording his debut original song in his studio. All of a sudden people were comparing him to George Wassouf in 1975.

Two equally awesome ladies get together and make a solid track. This track they wanted to make, not a one they had to make. Angham, Egypt's finest female voice with three decades of history joined forced with Asalah. The Syrian diva also has a great career under her belt. They both started singing as little girls and both have fathers who are musicians.

I adore this power, both showcase their vocal might, they bring different things to the song. A high quality track with great music, more like a music festival for the sincere ones among us. A romance song where they both describe moments of time. This is like two divas joining forces to bring us an even better song than they can do on their own. Not to many female voices make songs together ...this one is extra special because Angham is a legend and a Asalah is another.

This is a track made for this time, I hear hints of Indian music, and I hear hints of excitement in this romantic song. I must say this a winner that was kept away from the spotlight until, it was released. I have always appreciated poetic songs, this one is no different.

Roasting Chestnuts " Castana" With Yara This Christmas

The music Gods of Lebanon are celebrating the release of a new Christmas album in Arabic by people who actually do not have any Arabic names. "Castana" is what the album is called, Arabic for chestnuts, a very Christmasy treat. Yes,a warm fire helps us roast some of those meaty nuts. I think the picked a catch title for the album, a title that even those who do not read or understand Arabic can say with ease.

Yara, and Lara Scander talking up the album in concert with the composer behind it Jean Marie- Riachi. In a big bash where scores of Arab entertainers attended the release--names include Kazem Al Saher. The album will have 11 tracks, sic of which will be in Arabic. Two months ago this was just an idea... it's an incredible production to bring an album in those short 8 weeks.

Have not heard the album yet, but it feels like a Beirut album--very festive. This album will mAke the kids happy. So this Christma, skip the French and English holiday songs--you got a new album in Arabic.

RIP Legendary Composer Ammar El Sherei Dies At 64

Ammar El Sherei has not moved to a better place. He will be missed by the working entertainers in Egypt and the audiences who have come to love the man and adore his work. Egypt's living legend and link to the past musical glory, the blind man who helped shape Egyptian music has passed away this morning at the age of 64. While Ammar made classical music, he has also dedicated some time for pop and the young voices he has come to appreciate.

He has been sick for a really long time, and last news item I read was that of the President of Egypt promising to pay for all his medical expenses. He passed way in AlSaffa Hospital after a long struggle with illness.

Among his many achievements for the past 30 years, composing music for more than 50 films, 150 TV dramas, 20 radio shows and 10 plays. His first piece was in 1975. But in 1980 he formed the first pop music band "Al-Asdiqa'a" that owned that era and helped define Arabic pop for many generations to come. Ammar also took interest in kids songs, he has made so many of them through out his career.

From 1991 to 2003 he was commissioned to be the musical director for the October victories celebrations -a huge deal in Egypt. He was also a professor at the Egypt Art academy where he has worked with students on their Masters and Doctorate degrees. His greatest gift was his vision which made up for his lack of sight. He went own to put some of the great and most defining musical pieces and soundtracks.

Moustafa Amar New Fun Arabic Kids Song

Say what you say about Moustafa Amar, but this Egyptian nineties pop star is no quitter. He keeps digging for new material and reaching out to new fans. This time, his new song is meant for kids as they celebrate their birthdays with big fat parties. Kids are very influenced by cultural icons that America creates for them, and this music video is another testament.

Amar is a father so he got that tingly feeling in his heart when he looks at the little ones. He is bringing Tony the Tiger, Shrek, Tom, Jerry, Micky and Barbie. Those guys are all invited to the little birthday party. And in case that's no enough Spider-man is also coming. The song is part of Amar's last movie--it did not do too well in theaters.

I like kids to have fun, but there ought to be a balance, you cannot be raising entitled spoiled brats. they have to do some work too. The music video is trying to sell one happy family, kids and toys. The lyrics are meant for the little ones. Hollywood might not be too happy about their creations being part of a kid video in Egypt--I am sure they would like to get paid.

Children and violence are things we do not like to think about. But all over the world children are subjected to violent acts and sometimes they are asked to use violent on others. Violence in our schools too, and the only ones making a profit are the politicians.

It took new comer Ahmed Hweli, a guy who seems like a bleeding heart for what he sees on his TV screen around the world and at home.  This song is meant to give those senseless politicians and leaders some shame and guilt for not stopping the murders. They have divided us, they have conquered us, and have kills us, what else they want...cries the song.

I like the portion of the music video where the leader gives his kids a birthday party at home when they are safe and the little boy outside is suffering. They stole our land, their stole form our children, the song goes. This song is not about whining anymore, it's about taking stand and being the change one needs to see.

The arits kepy his song and his music video vague in order to appeal to more people in more countries. This song can be about Syria, Lebanon, Palestine  Libya, Iraq and few other places. This is how you make a broad topic specific--each person has to do the work. Just leave us alone is not a strategy.

There are many things Egyptian actress/singer/celebrity and business woman Safa Abu Al Saud wishes to take back. A number of films where she had starred earlier are sort of censored now. But the song below is not something she wishes to take back. She recorded one song for the Eid in the late 80s, and 30 years later, the song is still a popular hit.

It's really not a Eid for many Arab homes until the song gets played in the air. It's a happy song that kids grow up listening to. It makes the Eid fun and exciting, toys, trips, games, rides, balloons, bikes. This is heaven according to kids. The song is about haring the joy and having a great time of those happy days, and happy days seem to be few now.
