X Factor Arabia Latest Stunning Updates

X Factor is very close to ending its successful run, they names of the bands and performers is getting shorter by the week, and I think we have surpassed the half point. Every week, the show loses a band/artist. The Egyptian hip-hop R&B band seems to all but have secured winning the first season--if they do they might be the first band to win such a show in the Arab world

Every act is trying to win the title, each has a story to tell, and each wants that contract, but most of all winning the people and their votes. I feel Ibrahim Abdel Azim from Libya might be in the danger zone. Same goes for the Miraya band, they may also be in the same position.

I feel the Moroccan contestant, Mohammed El Rifi will go far, he is the treat that everyone loves, so mark my word he will be among the three finalists. The same goes for Hossam from Lebanon for starter the show is being filmed in Lebanon and I think he will be in for some time. If talent is the only way, the kid from Oman will be traveling far, the dude is a beast on stage--not a great choice.

Marwa had a good night, and the judges showered her with praises. She got better, but not sure if she has the vocal muscles to shine. Iman had a classical song to cover, I think she did well and owned the song--I loved how she took the song and made it work for her. Each judge loves his/her teams, but this is becoming harder to hide as the list narrows.

Would You Wear This Shatha Hassoun Outfit?

Shatha Hassoun knows a thing or two about fashion, she lives in Beirut  but works in Dubai, her hearts beats Iraq and her mind is always on Morocco. She makes good music and her online brand is one of the strongest among her peers. Her fans live all over the world and she often speaks to them via a number of media outlets.

She is often in Lebanon doing media interviews on A list shows, and in Beirut for concerts and events. She also records there. But I feel one of her most recent outfits feels little bit not her own. It looks like the sylist of Myriam Faris has finally got Shatha to wear his clothes. Fashion hits and misses are nothing new. You are a star and you wear something you think looks good one you...sometimes you are right and sometimes you are very wrong.

It's just a dress meant to cover your privates and make a statement. So no big deal, I have seen worse and a lot more revealing. Shatha is on her Turkey for a big project she is not talking about so far. From there she will head to Kuwait for a big wedding where she ha been hired to sing.

talented across the board is one of the words that describe this Moroccan pop diva whose Arabic, English and Frensh songs shake you to the core. Is it me of do Moroccan pop divas have to be a dozen times more talented that their peers in Lebanon and Egypt for us to talk about them?

Look, she writes her songs, she composes the music and she delivers one of those rare gems without effortlessly or making it look so. "I Love You" really made my heart glad. It is filled with innocence, hope, and good cheer. The song makes you hold on as you are about to give up, the sunrises again and we have a new day. No better reason to smile that finding a new virgin love.

To watch it is to experience steadily mounting delight, as you realize the songwriters have taken enormous risks, gotten away with them and made a movie that is completely original, and as familiar as an old shoe. I am the one who wants to scream hey Sofia, millions of your fans love you and  I am one of them.

Video: Chafik Nibou Is The Most Bizarre Audition On Arab Idol 2

He is Moroccan and he thinks he can sing. He did a number in Arabic and another song in Spanish--according to the judges he has better luck in Spanish. But this is nothing, the cast of Arab Idol were not ready for this guy. Chafik Nibou  made a number of bizarre  claims that are if true are shocking. See when he walked into the Arab Idol on camera audition, he was really pissed off, you see it in his eyes.

1. You guys are not important, I can make it on my own
2. I produced my own stuff in Egypt and moved to Lebanon for more work
3. Nasr Mahrous used to work for me
4. Hassna Abu El Soud wrote me a song, but then changed his mind. 
5. Sherine, the Egyptian diva used to be a backup singer in my band.

Chafik Nibou is a very confident man, and it was so fresh and so funny to see the judges try to handle that. I do not think he is all that great, he does have something in his Spanish singing--he says he is from Northern Morocco. When he walked away from the show, he spilled the beans, mockery is all I got. People drinking?  They made fun of my clothes...etc.

This is so funny, and I respect Chafik Nibou for holding his ground and bragging about his past. boy does he hate Sherine? He seems to have made another enemy, Ahlam. He also might be upset for not being treated well. He hates Arab Idol--why did he take part of it? He is talking about Beirut, and the executives are mean and rude to the participants.  I could see that and I agree with him for the lack of class.

My Choice For The Best Female Entertainer Is Houda Saad - Bik N3ich 2013 هدى سعد - بيك نعيش

Housa Saad is a world-class and well rounded entertainer. The songstress-cum composer-cum lyricist is a credit to her people in Morocco. She is truly one force not to be reckoned with. She has so much music training under her belt, but most of all her feel for what's fresh and good is unmatched  Most Arab pop divas pay other dudes to write and compose music for them.

Not Houda, she has all the skills to go it alone. And you know what, sometimes this is risky, but Houda is always dazzling and never repeats herself. She is an innovator and knows how to make them hits. The size of her gift keeps on growing. I love how much energy her songs have, but the lyrics are very poetic and meaningful at the same time.

I only say this because I am enjoying the one single from her "Bik N3ich"  It's a great mix song, perfect for dancing. Another thing about Houda, two years ago, she said she will try to take the Moroccan song into a new territory. And she has done just that. With her touches, the song from Morocco is something special unlike no other. The new track is so crisp and so rich with thrill of a hit song that you have the privilege to hear fro the first time.

Some artists have good voice, others have good showmanship! Houda has those naturally. Yet she ups the bar and has perfected her writing skills and her music composing talent. I wish she gets a chance to own the prime time for a little bit--she has a lot to share. I know she gets little help in Morocco, but she has decided to stay and fight.

Keep them coming, I love your new single and have always considered you one hell of an entertainer. It's about time Moroccan music had its very own proud mascot who inspires hope and shows strength. Houda might just take the Moroccan song beyond the borders of the Arab World. Lebanese song has Najwa Karam, the Egyptian song has Amr Diab, and now the Moroccan song has the very skillful and never dull Houda Saad

What's With Arabs Singing French?

The Voice is making a killing in ratings and advertisers money. One of the mentors is Kathem Al Saher, the classy voice form Iraq who has managed to largely keep his public image. He wanted to test one of the voices on the show, a young Moroccan with the name Youssra. Kathem kindly requested from the presenter and the young songstress to give him a taste of doing a song in a foreign language.

Youssra did not shy away, she picked a French song "S'il Suffisait D'aimer" by the French Canadian Celine Dion and did she blow it out of water? It feels like she did. I am looking at Lebanese and peoples of the West side of the Arab world who have adopted the French tongue. I like educated people and learning a new language should be rewarded.

But let's not sit here and pretend that speaking a foreign language make you a classy person. Class is something you learn form your family--namely your mother.

The Best (Winners And Losers) On X Factor Arabia

I think X factor is getting to narrow their list of talented names. They are ready to show off their finest voices and show off. One of those is a guy with the name Ibrahim, he is Libyan and he is ready to make them proud--I like him. He makes good choices and shows a level of maturity when doing cover songs. He might be going home, Elissa and Wael were unkind to him. Hussein and Carole were supportive. He was hurt becasue Libya could not vote due to their issues with telecommunication.

The other lady is Salwa whose talent is hard to miss. She seems to have the face for it, she is ready to entertain. Her covers of those English songs are something of a novelty, she has it figured out. She has the stage presence and gets in the act. She does the rock star persona very well, though her latest performance left something to be desired. She is also the youngest contestant and she is from Morocco.

Merayah, the band that knows what they want and have their own way of doing business. They are a boy band from Egypt who have the sweet and bad boy sides. I think they can do so much more than the soft song they performed. They are a crowd pleasing, but again they song did not allow them to show the happy side.

He is the statement on the show and his name is Hussam, he has a strong voice, and a highly classy style. He has been singing fro some time since he was an 8 year old boy. I like this guy, he seems to have his quirks going right for him. He does the old man trapped in a young man's body so well. He is Lebanese and from the same area as Wael Kfoury.

Iman is a strong contender. The judges seem to love her, she chose a song that everyone knows, so messing up in this song means she will go home--I feel she delivered it. She has the Wow factor!

I like him fro that, he does not sell his charisma, but he sells high quality songs, this is Adham and I think he is a solid voice and he may actually win. I think the judges have challenged him to bring the best in him.  He is very good and Jordan will vote him in and push his brand.

This is the most unique voice, he is a young Moroccan artist. I love his voice, he is very different and no one out there will be able to copy him. He is the candy of this show, he actually has divided the panle Elissa and Hussein are among his biggest cheerleaders.

The Omani dude who is like a magician. I love this dude, he always thinks about the song is his last song, so he goes all in. The judges really like him and he is a crowd pleaser  he knows how to show love and appreciation. He does wonders when he holds the microphone. It's safe to say he will go far, because even people outside Oman\love him--he might be the second artists to be born in that country.  Another thing, he performs like he is a Western star focuses on the show part, and not just the song.

Another band with a very cool name, ninja is ready they come to us from the West, they have the hustle and flow thing going for them. They do rap, and each come with a story they have gone far with the Western bloc of the Arab world. They are all about energy and joy. They are fun to see them live, their fusion works to their advantage. I believe they are Tunisian. They took a challenge and turned a Lebanese dance song to their own style. Tunisians have to be really good to make it out and thoe guys are no different, they hit all the right notes.

Asma Lmnawar has the music culture of the West Arabia, and she took it all the way with her to the Eastern Arabia, and made so many golden hits. This time she has a fusion song in between Gulf style, Iraqi dance beat, Spanish guitar and Moroccan spices.

The new single from the Moroccan diva is Safi or "It's All Good". A better song from this top talent who has made a career in the wealthy Gulf nations. I adore the new look of hers---the glasses may tell a story like her elder Aziza Jalal  another Moroccan diva who wore them in the eighties.  I like the simple look and the dialect that is not meant for one market and not the other.

A good middle path song by a super talented artist whose limits have yet to be defined. I like the energy the artist and her back up singers inject into the song. This song is the kind that gets you to move your head along as the song plays.

She is Morocco's most known pop star in the Gulf region, had you not known this fact, you would think she is a local girl from some country in the Khalij region. The former contestant on Star Academy  made a bold decision early one. She walked away from the program and moved to Dubai for work. It all worked out for her and she opened Pandora's box.

Concert gigs, record deals, music videos, and celebrity status of a Goddess. And her latest songs takes the gold a love song about a husband who drives his wife insane. The song's titled you made my blood pressure shot up....how about that? This song was being hyped for sometime and now it comes at this minute.

This is the story of a casting director who has to pick a leading female to play a role. His wife tries to get the gig by elimination other ladies to win her over--as well as the part. The song and the videos are made for teens, I am guessing. How come is everyone looks so perfect, dressed so well and seems to be clean cut?  I do like the rap lines by Mona.

I do not like the stalking part and showing women as fighting over a man--he will win. Again, this is mixing business with personal. I have appreciated the retro looks of the sixties. Then again, this is a fun music video with many amazing looks for everyone involved. Some of those dresses are just stunning.

Pepis is dancing as the latest singing competition show airs in Arabia, the X Factor brings together four of the true biggest pop stars in Arabia are set to judge the show. Three Lebanese and one guy from the United Arab Emirates. Egypt is missing, but at least three of those singers are a huge draw in Egypt.

The first episode aired with an introductory tone by talking up the stars who will judge the upcoming singers. It's an education too. 25 thousand young voices from all over the Arab world wanted to join in, only few will make the cut. The good news, the winner will get a contract for a music label  and will be touring around as the Pepsi star. That means good voice won't cut it, you need to have that personality and sexy attraction to be the worthy winner.

We are months away from that time, but the four stars will make sure we are entertained. I hope this show does not turn them from greats to goats. You have to be in the age range of 16 to 80 years old. Four different groups based on age and gender. Not sure how different this will be from the Voice, it sounds similar to me. Note how the voice over is in Egyptian.

I will follow it when I sense there is a reason to do so. I give it to the production company for singing the four best and most relevant voices in today's pop scene. I love the exchanges between the judges, Hussein Al Jassmi, Elissa, Carol Samahe, and Wael Kfoury are making sure we are tuning in.

The bros have a dream, never having to wear anything buy pajamas, eating potato chips all day, and watching TV with a peace loving blonde lady who likes groovy dance. There's a Moroccan pop personality that understands that and she is honoring this culture with a music video. Better yet, chicken wings/wife beaters are involved. This s a man dream set to the tunes of a catchy pop song. Lela is not legend but she is great at the choices she comfortable making.

Lela is posing as a popular chick with too many dudes wanting her affection, she is taking them all for a ride as judging from the Identification cards she has. She is some assassin and a sort car collector too (hint, there is a racing scene). Get this, she likes hamburgers too. Seriously  who is this lady?  This is one foxy lady who understands what it takes to get every man's attention and thing things he truly appreciates.

This is an upgrade clip from Lela's last music video, she has something the bros want and she will make it out there with the song that translates to "For The Thousandth Time" I like the dance floor bit, it makes the video feel like a retro funk feast. The reason I liked the music is because some of the finest names have touched it, Mohamed Yehia composed the music and the production went to Touma--an A team indeed.

Samira Said is the subject of this new song. Samira Said, is a Moroccan songstress that has been making music for more than 30 years now. From Morocco, she came and Cairo she conquered! She might not have released a new album in more than four years, but she is working on one right now and she makes her presence known on TV by judging the "Sawt Al Hayat" or "Voice Of Life"

Two young fans of hers braved it out and made a homage song for her, one likes her physically, and the other likes her work. It's a duet by Kareem Foud and Najla El-Sharif, a tribute song in both Arabic and English for their diva.

I cannot name one singer I want to thank. They get something out of their making music for us, and we get something too. So, it's all a business transaction when it comes to it. But if you want to make a song thanking your idol--who am I to stop you?

Full-blown pop diva is what I think of when I hear Houda Saad. Her songs are often ambitious, eclectic work that sees the cutesy chanteuse dabbling. But she also has many pop sing-alongs that have hit it big with the masses. It's terrible that her music label is unable to better market this talented Moroccan lady of soulful pop. Who can also compose music and lyrics 

And, since she co-writes most of her own music, they actually come from somewhere within her, unlike virtually every other female pop star today who has high-priced songwriters come in and pen tunes for her. She performs songs she has brought to this life.

Her latest project is filming a music video in LA with an American crew, the song she chose is a Morocco one, because her heart is in the right place. She is not pegging from mney form the Gulf to sing songs she likes, she makes the songs she personalty feels inside her, and that will make any song a hit.

Rajaa Kassabni And Her Broken Glass Song

It has been many many years since we have heard a good song from the X Factor graduate Rajaa Kassabni, the Moroccan romance butterfly. Rajaa showed a lot of talent in her debut album, and all of her songs on that album were instant hits. She sang about people who change, lost romance, and the way of life.

Through it all she has always sounded dreamy, and hopeful. I like that. Now she is returning with a new single where she sings her blues in the Gulf Dialect. It's a fine art song where classical music meets stunning poetry. It's a dramatic song about the innocent relationship between a man and a woman. The song's title is "Her Broken Glass", as we all known some women are like glass, once broken they can never be brought together again.

The new single has been filmed in Beirut for a the music video, EMI is the producing partner. I am reading this is the first music video where Rajaa looks her age where her older music videos made her look older. She is attractive her and looking her best.

This is a wonderful song, for the first time in some time now, I find a female voice capable of performing complicated songs with ease. It's a breeze and the emotions are perfectly aliened with the sounds Rajaa makes.

Videos Of New Year 2013 Concerts In Beirut

The winner of the Voice, Mourad Bourky had his first concert and he was the fireworks of the night, he performed next to Assi Hallani. Together they appeared in Lebanon.

The new year is the biggest night for people who like music and enjoy drinking. Ragheb Alama also had his concert that night--most stars have more than one engagement on this night. Ragheb danced with the ladies on the stage. Happy New Year to all those people out there, I know  was optimistic for 2012, but I do not feel the same way about 2013....last year we had the least number of albums released.

Dubai and Beirut had the most fun, not so much in Cairo, though there have been few concerts here and there on a small scale and little publicity. I know each one of those artists wished for a better new year speaking of politics and change. Those are videos shot from the audience vantage point and they are not the best quality.

Chevrolet's Beautiful Assault On Arabic Music

Business would stop at nothing to promote their products, nothing beats a good song that everyone can relate to. I do drive a Chevrolet and I do like Arabic music. I may not follow Arab Idol, but I know what;s going on. The idea behind this commercial is simple, bring all those young--and popular singers who are competing on Arab Idol, put them together and have them drive your awesome cars.

The product a lot of young people who like music are looking like they are having fun. Three boys and three girls together in the wilderness playing music, having a picnic and surrounded by their Chevy's. Since this is a singing competition, have them do a remixed version of an Arab classic the late Algerian Warda performed.

This is how you make a commercial, you explore a new concept, keep it interesting and do not take the same shot twice. And yes, it helps to have a good product to promote.

I love their time on the seaport. I think the drive in theater is also a fresh concept. This will surely make your Chevrolet Sonic seem event hotter. And on another note, what is with the scarves  why do all the dudes wear them? Am I missing something?

Morocco and Pop go hand in hand, plastic surgery pop has a home it's called Beirut. But Lela could care less about that, her latest single flies over the Gulf and flirts with their songs, as she has chosen to perform a song in that dialect. The Gulf has always been kind to the female singer form Al Maghreb  since the 70s to be exact.

Lela joins a very long line of Moroccan who move their careers to the Gulf area where there are countless poets with a lot of money to fund music videos.

She lives in a villa with a handsome dude who makes her breakfast as she workout. He leaves her messages on the mirror, moves the chair for her and all the fine details. Do not forget the tons of expensive gifts he purchases her. Seriously, where did she find this guy?

It's not a bad song, but it's far from being perfect. It's a pop song that the artists wanted to share with us. Good lyrics, but the music videos lives in an alternative universe.

The difference with the old classical music that it wan'y overly commercialized. Sure there were the financial backers, but those ones we see today it has commercials like this new music video as recorded by the four finalists from The Voice. That company that sells hair care products logo appears all over the song. The song is titled "Stand Out", "Radiate" which is only possible if you use that famous shampoo.

This was filmed as the young singers recorded the song, there are no images or master edits, they just wanted to get the four in the studio and have a jamming session with them. Not a classic, even though it may sound like one. Poetry always seems to outlive good music, but sometimes, they complement one another.

I love the intro to the song, it feels like a gypsy track that makes you want to act like happy feet.

You will see two Moroccans, one Tunisian lady and a fine Iraqi voice. By the time the video surfaced, the winner of The Voice has been announced--supposedly fans all over the Arab world have voted for him--Mourad Bouriki took home the title. The clip features the vocalists trying to outcool one another as they figure their way around the camera.

The proud kingdom of Morocco took home the title for the Voice, his mentor Assi Hallani is so proud. The winner of the first season of the Arabic version of The Voice is Mrad Boreqy. This was a stunning surprise for many observers who have not taken special interest in Mourad Bouriki and his dazzling performances.  The Moroccan flag flew a little higher in Beirut where the episode aired on Friday the 14th. The judges now can take a break after an informal finale--where Sherine brought her little girl who ran on stage.

This is the closing ceremony and each coach gave a closing speech and so has the four contestants. A class act speech by Katehm Al Saher who has recognized the suffering of the children and those who are living under attacks and bombing in the world. The final four came from Tunis, Iraq and two from Morocco. Mourad was the most professional and most loyal to his signings  He won because he was good, not because he was the most charismatic.

As for Mourad has dominated with his covers of the Syrian oldies--a t ouch singing form where high low pitches are needed to dazzle. I congratulate the young singer and wish him well, he has the voice and has now won The Voice over. His next move is important. I hope this is the begging of a Moroccan music revival.

MBC made a lot of money from this big in rating show--I was suspicious at first. Moroccans almost always do poorly in those shows whereas Egyptians tend to win more often. Some refer to RedOne, the world class Moroccan music producer interfering in favor to the Mourad. Mourad won the night with a cover of Oum Kalthoum song--always a crowd pleaser.

Mourad won few things, a big truck from a famous America company model 2013. A contract with Univrsal Music where the popular Moroccan native RedOne would oversee the production of the album.

Ilham Chaouqi, This Moroccan Lady Got Pop Songs

Ilham Chaouqi hails form the rich land of Morocco. I know of her because of one quote she said, "Making an album is a failed project", I happen to agree with that opinion. If you are starting out in the music business, you need a single to test the water. A well produced single where you put your heart into can accomplish as much success as an entire album.

Ilham will release an Egyptian song she bought the rights too and it will be titled "Saktah Qalbyah", a "heart attack" Aside form music Ilham hold a degree in English literature and business. She impressed many people when she started singing in school a t a young age, but her career has not started officially until 2011.

Ilham has already released one single for the Gulf market, a place that seems to be a natural habitat for Moroccan singers. For the moment, Ilham wants to work form home and not relocate to Lebanon or Egypt. Like many of the home grown entertainers, she wants to help elevate and promote the Moroccan song. Ilham Chaouqi does already have a brand as her name screams celebrity. I am hopping Ilham will try more classier songs in addition to the pop song she has already been working on.
