WATCH: Arwa - Marhaba (NEW 2012) / اروى - مرحبا

Arwa have had a slow 2012, most stars have but the Yemeni starlet took time off to have a baby girl--Nora. The star of the Gulf--Khalij is ready to reclaim her spot on top of the charts. I feel we kinda of missed her sweet pop songs with a catch dance beat.

Below, you will fine her latest single, she released it prior to her taking time off before her pregnancy started to show. "Hello" is the name of that single. Well, Hello back Arwa.

Listen: Yuri Mrkadai's Best Song In A Decade

I danced, I cheered and I got in the zone when I heard this song first. But this song keeps getting better the more I listen to it. Yuri is not 20 years old anymore and he does not care to make average pop songs that no one remembers. He makes contemporary classics rooted in poetry but also offering upbeat music.

He makes no secrets about his love and admiration for Arab women, always has. But his comeback singles more exciting lyrics and really impressive mixing. The way he reads poetry, sings then slows down to read more poetry only to go back into the singing mode perfect the song.

Mrkadai's songs are meant for gentlemen who want to get closer to women in the classic fashion. It's not a shame to be outsmarted by them--the song is about a fighter who has never lost a a battle until he has met her. She handed him his first defeat and he was proud of this defeat.

WATCH: Tamer Hosny FT Akon - Welcome to the Life ( Behind the scenes)

Tamer Hosny might be doing American pop a huge favor, he is stimulating the economy by his big spending as he pays top names to collaborate with him. The latest star to charge Tamer Hosny a fee is American rapper Akon (by the way of Senegal) Tamer went to Akon's home and studio and we have the footage from the behind the scenes.

I think there is a new Tamer is town and he means serious business. I do not think he will ever become a global icon, not for his lack of trying, but he is already big in the Arab world. He has already singed with top companies who want to sell their stuff to Arabs. So his new duet with Akon might not do that much, other than adding to his resume.

I like Akon and think he is a smart business guy. Watch the two work together on the song as Akon tries to pick few words and they are working on a music video too. There are simply too many douche bags in this video who think they are all that  important.

I think this would be a fun project, I would ask Tamer, take it easy, save your money and go back to Nasr Mahrous--he knows how to bring the best in you and how to put you in a hit.

X Factor Guest Pop Star Mohamed Fouad Shines

Arguably, he is one of the most beloved and most real Egyptian singers, he is the home boy and the one who has always been close to the people. That means he never pretend to be something he is not. But for the past two years Mohamed Fouad was not feeling too healthy--he has spoken about his struggle with his weight and low energy.

But, you would never know that when you watch the man work the stage as he performed some of his better songs in a crazed in studio fans. He had the biker look, gosh we miss this fine entertainer and I am very pleased with his rocking comeback.

You cannot take certain things, like the love and loyalty of his seamlessly never ending fan base. He performed a number of songs including the sweet romantic one and the upbeat dance number. Note lip sync, that did not seem to hold back  Fouad from standing tall. Cannot wait for his new album that should be dropping this year.

WATCH: The Hairy Esaf Sings For Mothers

B list pop star Esaf has not released anything new in more than two years, and when he returned to the music business, he comeback with a song for the mothers.

Esaf has made films too, so he is no stranger to the show biz, this song has made some buzz for the young artist. I like the new hair, and how the song is very focused on it lyrics. There are a religious undertone in the song, Moses, Jesus and the Virgin Mary are.

The music is pretty basic, nothing too impressive and so is the music video. I do not see this as a classic, if you do not sing along, chances are, the song will not outlive its artist.

WATCH: Asala Nasri - Ela Mata (Cover by Alaa Wardi & Sultan Al-Jameel)

Saudi Alaa Wardi is out with a new  cover song where a cappella meets the beat box. Alaa is his very own singing group but this tme he brings a similar minded artists who takes care of the vocals as Alaa handles the music so beautifully with his mouth.

Alaa has made so many incredible videos, and he has done so well himself where he performed in indie concerts with other young artists. He shot to fame when he did an amazing cover by one of Nancy Ajram's best songs of 2010. Released few more followup  but the new Asala Nasri is his serious effort to stage a viral comeback.

Sultan Jameel does an amazing job with this share of the, they both sport the Saudi style outfits and it goes well with the Gulf dialect song.

Review: Tamer Hosny 2013 Album "Bahbak Enta"

You really have to listen to each of the songs in entirety because some songs change gears and keep you guessing what will happen next.

01. Bahbak Enta, simple techno music intro to keep things upbeat till this singing bird takes on the microphone to confess his love. I love how the song sounds like a plea right before it kicks off the party and shed a whole new Tamer mood.
02. Ya Ba5t Elly Hat7beh, this song was released in advance to hype up the album and it did the trick. A Romantic gem sing with a catchy Egyptian beat, a new song for Tamer who has done similar songs before. The topic might attract younger college aged listeners  not so much the family folks. A gleeful song with shades of romance.
03. Elly Rah, this is a winner song, we have never seen this wise Tamer Hosny talent before. He sounds grownup and sick of living with people who live do not give back. I am a fan and think Tamer landed a smashing hit, his emotions come through in genuine fashion.
04. Had Shabhoh, a sad about what could have been? a ballad that exists in each and every culture and tongue. Could we be reunited again? A song about the similar faces, and names we see in other people. The Deja Vu feeling we get when we see someone and think we have known them from a past life. A sweet song
05. Magnon Ana, Again, I love the intro, I could be hearing this song in some Latin area, or an area where street music is king. I appreciate how this song is made, it's fashioned in the American style of keeping things interesting and singing without singing. Lyrics are not that fresh, but as the song is catchy, you won't notice.
06. T3ala N3esh, Let's love is the title! I have heard this song from Tamer before. The sweet and gentle soul guy is back. I do not like those songs, but the targeted audience is not me. I do fine the music delightful and sophisticated
07. W Mn Ba3dy Eltofan, a happy song from a man who sounds if he lives without a care in the world. A balanced approach to dance and pop. I love the title, we care only for number one. I do not care how it all plays after me--do not care if the flood stroke. About being selfish in a relationship. The music is made right with incredible production.
08. Saf7a Gdeda, A new page is the title! Start over, and hope people won't call you out. The song starts slow, then it takes us into the inside of crazy club with the mix. A fun song for the live concerts, but Tamer slows it when he sings, then the song chances pace few times. I like 80 percent of the music, but loud is the norm.
09. 5alena E5wat, a song you play in dark night, when you are about to do something more private in an intimate setting. Here' comes the boom, the song is about "Lets' Be Friends Instead!" Who hasn't heard this before? I am not sure what to make of the song by a guy talking about another guy--he might be singing in the voice of a lady. Again, I have enjoyed this song and loved the story it tells and the simple lyrics if puts to good use.
10. Habet Etnen, the love triangle song, I do not like the logic, but life is illogical sometimes. The song has never heard before lyrics. A dilemma when you fall in love with two people at the same time. This is like taking a journey inside the mysterious minds of many people in relationship. I love how Tamer talks about pride and self-respect here. I like the distinct Egyptian melody, and something tell ms the fans would welcome them too. Could it be possible I have met the right person at the wrong time?
11. Ya Ret Terdy, a classical start, love the guitar strokes. A dreamy song from a guy who wants to forget the past and start a new page. A gentle song by a very emotional version of the artist with a great melody that comes painted in sorrow. This is a smooth track But will they forgive?
12. 3orba, Tamer Hosny has traveled the world and with that comes the feeling of being away, missing on somethings. This is the homesickness song that most of his fans who live abroad will find it amazing. He traveled and performed for them--came to the US, went to Europe and Dubai. He is apologetic for those who live away. Naturally, I like this song and I welcome Tamer Hosny in the expats club.
13. Ya Retoh Yestahel, save best for last, the song sounds like a video game, then Tamer Hosny walks in a parade with a guest--I now know it's her friend and guy with the Free Music lable Baha Soltan. Tamer has never big on duets, this is a good surprise. This is not a love song, a song about learning a lesson and marching forward.

Download: Tamer Hosny New 2013 Album البوم تامر حسنى - بحبك انت

The album just hit the world wide internet, and that means it's available for purchase in Egypt. To be candid, I skipped his 2011 album and did not even try to get a good listen, it was too soon for him. But this is 2013 and he is making nice with his past--he has already owned up to the previous life he used to have.

The album is about love, it's right there in the title. This is a highly entertaining album form a guy who spares no cost to make high quality music. This time he gives 13 tracks and I know he has few winners in the comeback album. This is a complex from an artist who often makes good songs, but those good deeds do not stop you from wanting to hate him and question everything he does. From what I have seen this year, that Tamer is long gone.

There are dance tracks ready for the party prime time, and you can hear some guests lightening the album with the fireworks. I like the album and it will take me some time to analyze it, I will write feedback later on each of the songs. But each song I have listened to so far, has been a treat. I did not think I could hate the man--he made a good album.

I love the variety Tamer and his team have put together--it shows he has grown up since 2001 when he first made waves. I love the new and more seasoned styles he has landed on. There's some very fine production on display, and most songs are well longer than four minutes. Some are at 6 minutes of amazing showcase from the star who wants to reclaim his spot in pop history. Even his album cover was not so much about being cool, and hip, he kept it ti simple and black and white intimate portrait.

The songs tell so many stories, there are epic love songs, wise life songs, and crazy party tracks to kick off the season. Rest assured, if you are in a dark place, this album will lift you up, and if you need to go to dark place this song will give you a hand. Other than that there's a song about the homeland and homesickness.

Tamer made a solid album, now it;s up to him to show folks who like this album that he is starting on  new chapter--like one of his songs calls for--track 8.

01. Bahbak Enta, simple techno music intro to keep things upbeat till this singing bird takes on the microphone to confess his love. I love how the song sounds like a plea right before it kicks off the party and shed a whole new Tamer mood.

He's Baaack Listen: Tamer Hosny - Elly Rah / اللي راح - تامر حسني

Egypt is ready to meet a whole new Tamer Hosny, the grownup one that he has never let out of the bag. The song below could not have been made into a good song had he not been through the worst those past few years. A very sobering song from a man who does not seem to have a lot of fans out there at the moment. He is heartbroken even though he is happily married.

The song's mood in unlike anything he has made before. And to be frank the music lives up to the song. After this song fewer people will hate the most hated pop star in this generation. "Elly Rah" means what has passed, the past. The years and the experiences that one can never recover back. I like this new tone for Tamer Hosny, it might show that he was only letting us see the tip of the iceberg of his multi-talented artist. Cannot help but drool over this nice collaboration, the music is like a magical rug transferring us back to the time when original music was created.

This song is the best defense for Tamer Hosny, about how much he has seen most recently since he made that phone call to the state TV in Egypt and starred in the viral Tahrir Square video. This time, he sounds like a bird he can no longer fly unless those around him/her make it right. Call is his closure song, but I am inclined to give him two thumps up for this single

Listen To Alaa Zalzali's Finest Song To Date

He is no Iraqi, but Lebanese Alaa Zalzali may have just released the best Iraqi song in the year. The father of three little boys who sounds like a voice of reason if asked about the political reality in Lebanon is also the same guy who likes to party live. The balance of the romance, pop, blues, and funk elements in the song are done in harmony

The new song is a perfect dance companion, made just right for that unique Iraqi group dance known as Chobi dance. She warns him her family might beat him up, her dad is related be the president of an Arab republic, to keep him away, he won't go away. He wants to fight for his lady and form the words she chose  she seems not to mind this romantic tale. It's the most romantic exchange where passion meets cultural defiance. She lets him know that her brother might stab him with a knife if he comes asking for her in marriage at home. She says, nothing will keep me away.

Alaa should be excited about his new hit he has under his belt, it's a total concert magnet. The Lebanese party singer is back after months of mourning for the loss of his new born little girl. I am certain the appreciation of this song goes beyond Iraq and Lebanon it's a trans Arab hit.

Listen: The Comeback Girl اغنية وائل جسار وشيماء الشايب - فى قلبى صورتك | جديد 2013

Remmeber the girl that sang the famous Oum Kalthoum tribute songs in the late nineties? She was the teen who shaked the music market at that time and made her name by paying homage to other legends. She added her own flavor and touch on those timeless classics.

That's the story of Egyptian Shima El Shaib. But then she disappeared from the music radar. She was 15 years old and her mom is a an Egyptian legend Fatmah Eid, the one who has so many folksy hits. Shima was a fixture of the Egyptian music scene since she was seven years old. She is an award winning before she became an adult. She did release a solo original album "Ana Taibah" it wasn't the big hit her fans expected form her. The music production was not done right, but overall the album was satisfactory. She took a break until she finished her studies.

However, she is back with Wael Jassar in 2013 with this romantic duet. Her nostalgic fans have been through a lot, but they are ready to take her new song for a test drive. It's a sweet song delivered with such a delicate style, both artists sound very compatible and like the best of friends. Shima has a good voice, but now she needs to develop something to call her own as her voice naturally changed with growth. Wael, was a star since he was a kid, so he knows what it takes.

WATCH: Official Nawal El Zoghbi - Gharibi Hal Denyi / نوال الزغبي - غريبة هالدنيي

The party is on and Nawal El Zoghbi has turned up the sizzle just a bit. She is celebrating the incredible event and hype for her new music video. The teaser for the music video got everyone talking about this youthful pop hit-maker whose career is going strong on two decades and the public seems to grow fond of her each time she releases something new.

There are amazing affects, and a big budget production, thanks to the talented director whose level of creativity dazzles even the most skeptics. Jad Shewey has done it once again. Nawal must be celebrating and breaking the bubbly for this moment, I would too. She made a good investment on a song that will stick around. The dance beat combined with the catchy lyrics move the song along in a pleasing fashion.

Let's begin, the dancers are doing an incredible dance movies, courtesy of the professional choreographer, they have mixed Lebanese, Indian and Asian dance moves to create something hip and original. Then there are the outfits and the legs of Nawal El Zoghbi, they put those 20 something pop divas into shame, as they have nothing on her.  Nawal El Zoghbi is doing a lot of work here, she is dancing--we have not seen her do that in some time.

Again, the dancers keep the song energized and the shots from feeling empty. I like this music video, while the music video is a real treat that marks the comeback of one of the finest pop ladies to her throne, the skills of Jad Shwery who has just given yet another pop diva a fresh look, he did it last year when he gave Diana Haddad a makeover.

Sameer Abu Elneel, Ahmed Mekky New Comedy أحمد مكي ''بوستر'' فيلم جديد ''أبو النيل

Ahmed Meky is a comedic genius, he has made about five comedic films, three of them are great, one is good and another that sucks. But this time he has learned his lesson....the funniest man and rapper in Egypt Ahmed Meky is back with anew comedy set in the 1980s or at least with the look from that not so distant past. Meky is one creative force, the chracters he creates are unlike we have seen before. He knows his comedies both the Arabic and the American styles and he brings the best original scripts.

El Sabky is the production company that has authorized the film and will be in charge of marketing. It seems the House of ElSabky is the only production house that is willing to film new projects. Granted most of their movies are made on the cheap, a shitty singer, a shitty local dancer, some shity looking guy with a heart of gold who saves the day in a shity plot and shit production film.

But with this new partnership  they might as well be up for making some serious films, that can make serious cash for everyone. Not much is known about the plot, but it seems the film will offer commentary and funny takes on Egypt post January 25th revolution. There are way too many odd characters and behaviors that have emerged since then.

Next to Ahmed Meky, Nicole Saba, Mena Shalby will co-star. The film will have one of the biggest box-office darlings. Other actors will be Mohamed Lutfi-the muscles, and Ala Morsi--the comedy candy. I look forward to watching this movie, and nothing would make me happier than watching it in downtown Cairo under better conditions this summer.

Listen: اغنية واما - يلا نعمل حاجة عشانها | Wama - Yalla Ne'mel Haga Ashanha

The four dudes who make up the Egyptian pop band strike back.....the four incredibly talented entertainers. Each of the four band members have a successful stand alone career. Among them there are the actors, solo singers, composers, TV presenters and much more. This time they reunite for Egypt's sake.

Their comeback album of 2010 was pretty good, but then this revolution started and shadowed the comeback album. Now, they just released a patriotic song for Egypt where they call on people to do something for Egypt. We have done something great, and history has witnessed it....now let's go back to work and make Egypt great once again.

I like this kind of responsible attitude, I know Egyptians agree on this with the exception of political figures and their supporters. As a song, this is not the greatest or the strongest, but what makes this song terrific is its timely message. The vocals are done right to express this somber moment.

Watch: Coke Bastardize Egyptian Indie Bands كليب أتجنن - كاريوكى و عايدة الايوبى

It's a sad day when the brightest rock music band in Egypt--and most indie one gets picked to do a song for Coca Cola. The insult does not end there, Coca Cola also hires Aida Ayoubi as she makes her way back into the music scene. I know it's a tough market out there, and that soda giant knows this very well...so they bribe those entertainers to try to appeal the young angry and indie spirit Egypt is experiencing those few past years.

Cairo, and Aida are awesome musicians, they come from tow different eras with very passionate and rebellious songs. I do not like to drink soda and wish less people would drink it, but I like the music of those two acts. But wait, a third act joined the party, Egypt's hottest rapper Zap Tharwat also gets his moment under the soda sun.

This is the promotional music video for the soda company and it's a really good song....Let Yourself Go, says the song....and that's what will happen if you drink too many sodas...Get crazy says the song and don' worry about people and what they say....they will say you are fat once you had too many sodas. Amir Eid, the lead of Cairokee wrote this song! He is a lyrical boy wonder.

I love how soda company try to get culture through music....and those bands like the extra cash they get in exchange for their music and promotional endorsements. There's a happy smiley face, balloons and such. You will balloon yourself if you keep drinking sodas. And yes, you are too crazy if you substitute sodas for health drinks.

WATCH: Hotter Nawal El Zoghbi - Gharibi Hal Denyi "Teaser" / نوال الزغبي - غريبة هالدنيي

Other pop songstress are hiding now as Nawal El Zoghbi, the original "it" girl is teasing us all with a new song that has awesome and dazzling written all over it. The palace we see is either a visual feast or a real blow them away Moroccan place. The drums began to beat for this music video a long time ago, Nawal has been promising her fans something amazing! And she did not joke around this time.

We do not get to have a full shot of Nawal, but the sneak peak promises many great things, and yes there is a crown to tell the other pop ladies "suck it" mama bear is back, you better go into hiding. It's true Nawal is a huge name and has manged to do the virtually impossible, do pop songs where the image is 90 percent of the show.

Yes, she did have the low moments, but with this clip, she seems to be ready for prime time once again. And to help her the versatile Jad Shewry directs the upcoming music video for "Gharibi Hal Denyi". I am certain Nawal is telling her ex to go screw himself when he sees her makeover and her high points from the upcoming song, he said she will fade away without him--he is the only one to go away.

The well known Lebanese dance choreographer Charle Mchris has his fingerprints all over this. The song is to air next week on Lebanese and Arab radio stations. This is a gigantic production, worthy of Nawal's star size. I like it

Badriya Essayed Alexandria Beach Of Love

Badriya Essayed left Star Academy and has never left it. She stayed in Lebanon for two years after her appearance and she has finally singed a contract with a production company and her single came out. A single that makes one nostalgic to the Egyptian city of Alexandria, the beach and the people enjoying it.

It looks promising as the Jaroudi Media, the producer has plans for the Tunisian pop delight. There are talks of Badriya doing a cover of one of the old beloved songs from Sabah's golden hits. Badriya's comeback has to be well planned for it to mean something that would last.

Badriya Essayed manged to stand out from the pack and she may up to something and I like when young people find a breathing room in this highly competitive and cut-throat industry.

"Listen: Najwa Karam "Ykhallili Albak جديد نجوى كرم 2013 يخليلى قلبك

Most human brings age and grow old, Najwa Karam is growing younger and you know what, she is aging gracefully. You cannot ever see her out of shape, out of style, or old. She is not made for aging. I know most entertainers do some work to look younger, with Najwa Karam you can never tell she if she has gotten some work done or not.

She has become one of the very few things Lebanese agree on, she is a home grown diva who loves her motherland and has never shied away from rocking any concert at home. Till now, she has refused to sing in any other Arabic dialect, other than hers. She makes a point and for this many fall in love with her pride. While there are many young divas out there who pretend to like Najwa Karam when in deep down they want her stature.

Najwa is not known for releasing singles, she is very business minded. She judges the Arabs Got Talent and enters virtually every Arab home. And she makes a hit album every two years. I do not recall her releasing singles as far as I can remember. Maybe the timing is for Valentine Day, it's a song about the people who let into our hearts.

Not only is the song a fresh reminder of how great Najwa Karam and how powerful her vocal chords, but her new pictures are nothing short of spectacular. In the span of 2 decades, very few singers have carved their spot in pop history as beautifully as Najwa Karam has.

The Incredible Old School Throwback By Shayma Helaly شيما هلالي - إمتى نسيتك

Whoever suggested that the Tarab song is dead poke too soon. Tarab songs are the old sounding real songs with minimal computer affects, real instruments, slow moving melody, strong vocal showing "forte", and the magical overall feel.

That formula has been working for generations, but it seems to have been lost due to the overcrowded pop music scene. But an unlikely star is bringing it back with a new style of her own. Tunisian Shayma Helaly who had a good run in 2007 and 2008 is making her much needed comeback noticed with her new romantic ballad. One of things about Shayma is her obsession with the golden era songs since she was a little girl.

I am encouraged to hear and watch the song, because most stars are now banking on doing Gulf songs instead of trying for the real deal. This is a like giving CPR to this old style that has been buried for at least two years. Shayma came a long way from her days at the Star Academy show, her delicate persona and strong voice offer the perfect formula for a warm and soul- friendly sweet performance.

"Emta Nseitak" turns little boys into men and teaches woman all about the emotional complexity of that thing we call love. The music video was filmed in Lebanon, and Shayma wear five different outfits in the duration of the music video. While no one can miss the artist's good and stylish look, her voice stole the show in this golden performance.

Note the special and visual affects the music video director Fadi Haddad puts to a good use. The lyrics are the work of the A lister, Mohammad El Refaei and Ameer Mahrous and We are hoping for her comeback album, due this year.

Respect Shayma Helaly! This lady can rock!

WATCH: Hamza Namira - El-Midan | حمزة نمرة - الميدان #Egypt

Hamza Namira is back everyone, he has timed his worthy comeback with the second anniversary of the Egyptian revolution. The song that marks his return is "El Midan" Arabic for The Square in reference of the Tahrir Square. He is showing us why he is different, it's easy to make a new song each week, there are many things that are going wrong in Egypt. But for a dreamer, someone who looks farther than any of his peers are willing, he sees meany great things happening in Egypt.

The song is about unity, the right call in the right time. Hamza Namira chose not to pick fights with the new Egyptian regime, he is giving them the benefit of the doubt. The song starts slow, then picks up as the rock melody kicks in. Hamza is young, but his skill composing music, and writing lyrics tops his wonderful ability to perform an incredible live concerts.

The lyrics are about pride, you should be so proud, you stood next to your neighbor in the Square, you are belonging the good old Egyptian, the one we all love so very much. This is a live performance, the flags of Egypt are all over the music video-only the flags of the land not some sectarian flags. I like the fireworks on stage, but I wish the clip was shot with a little bit more light.
